Two years following the excellent Hammer of Dawn, Hammerfall return with a new album and prove once again why they are considered to be one of the most consistent European power metal acts of the last 25 years. Avenge The Fallen does not deviate from the elements that the Swedes bring from the past: fast tempos, hammering riffage and Joacim's ageless, polished vocals. The tracks are once again built around memorable melodies and choruses, the trademark "ooh ooh ooh ooh" and placed somewhere is always the typical heartful, power ballad.
