While this release at first glance lacks the energy and power of previous albums, with time it reveals itself as a moving and expertly crafted record which prioritizes its folk elements and patient structures above all else, while not entirely abandoning its black metal roots, as disparate as they are. As a result, the metal moments have a lot of weight and are quite memorable. Looking forward to the follow up which is said to be entirely black metal, clocking in at 55 minutes.

This has its moments, but as my wife asked: "are you really enjoying this?" -- and I had to admot: it's not really that good. Interesting, but also I don't speak French.
