Call it a surprise, call it a comeback, where Wombbath is concerned it's both and a little more. Considering the past few subpar releases of the "revived" band, an odd pining towards the Internal Caustic Torment days, and some overly praise-ridden messaging by the label Transcending Obscurity to sell w/e they release be it a new album or comp from the band, at this point the odds were stacked against them. Coming out on the last day of the year too, guarantees a certain amount of overlook even amongst the most dedicated of listeners throughout the year. Billed as a double-album (really an hour and some change) too, tends to have it's drawbacks, especially in a dm context. All of what I said however, in terms of alluding to any potential consequence, somehow was subverted in regards to the final product. Somewhere between standard and stellar, this is a fantastic outing that for sure is not going to get the attention it deserves. Better than Asphyx's Necroceros and quite a few other acts of the same age that released this year, with heights of its own. Guitarist contributes violin on some tracks as well. Check this out, it will be worth it and flows way easy on the ears, passing the time like a breeze. Some good shit here.
