Don?t mind me is shockingly pleasant. Unfortunately the rest of the album is a constant messy struggle of everything trying to fight for the spotlight at all times.

Don't Mind Me and Daggers & Cloak are decent, even if not really memorable. If the rest of the album was like that it would be ok. Alas, the rest of the album is a complete mess... Phenomenal musicianship as expected, but the songwriting skills are nowhere to be found, and the vocals don't help as everything wants to be on the front and it just doesn't work. A well deserved 1.6/5 for me, one listen has been enough.

when it works, it works pretty well. a few songs don't work. vocals are too upfront either way. but people are not judging this with their ears either way. i'm sure the instrumental is more enjoyable.

Jackhammer Ballet got me to listen as I really dig that track (and Kindo, of course). Tracks are good (if not great), but the whole experience is still too varied and scattershot. Just backs up my long-standing impression that Chris needed Travis (who is just as good if not a better player) and Jordan was their x-factor. I was a really big fan of Pat too - though Engen is a great drummer. There was a lightning-in-a-bottle synergy on those first few albums that was crucified for ego. It's a shame.
