With early Mastodon influences as well as bulking up their soundscape thanks to thrash riffs, blackened blastbeats, and even FoE-like vocals, Dvne reinvent their formula. The core sound remains prog metal with sludgy linings, but a newfound heaviness is found three years after the epic Asheran. Disappointed by the latest Intronaut? Give this one a listen.

A superfluous description would state that this is a superb prog thrash. Another rendition of that would be that this is a superb death thrash. Or that it's a superb blackened sludge. Or a few other descriptors in the similar vein. It's superb, full of dense atmosphere, rich production and stellar instrumentation. Whatever it is, however familiar it sounds, it is a superb two-tracker from a band already establishing itself as a forerunner of modern metal fusion.

DVNE is back and better than ever.
Refining the fantastic soundscape and
atmospheric presence from their debut
LP, they somehow managed to shove
nearly an entire full length album's
worth of seething riffs, thrilling
drum fills, powerful vocals, engaging
song structures, and killer change ups
into a tightly packed, 17 minute,
emotionally striking tour de force. I
simply cannot wait to see what these
guys do next.
