Nowhere near as blistering and pummeling as their 90's output unfortunately. The vocals consistently have this very repetitive, almost James Hetfield sounding thrash-metal timbre and cadence to them, which starts to become grating to me after just a few songs in. And as much as I admire Kurt Ballou and think most would benefit pretty well from having him behind the boards, his production doesn't really make this band sound as powerful as they potentially could. The very notable added clearness to their music combined with the new vocal style just makes them sound like an entirely new band, and not on the level of one that would put out a record like 2nd LP. Even though the performances are pretty high energy, the songs are merely just decent at best, which is sad considering this band was really vital to my life when I first started getting into grindcore and powerviolence back in my earlier high school days.
