Fun, groovy, fun and more fun all the way through. I don't know if I'll always remember it for the technical prowess or the depth of the songwriting, but damn they know how to write entertaining songs and creating a coherent album.

I love the themes of this album which speak to me on
a more personal level than their other work seemed
to. In general, I also think the band is well
balanced in its musicians, so I find myself
constantly switching my focus between them; which
translates to a lot of listen throughs. Michael Miley
is also becoming more and more of a role model for my
own drumming as the band matures.

Feral Roots is the most mature album of Rival Sons to date. It has not been recorded to be radio-friendly or attract new audiences. It has depth and lacks fancy hooks. It is spontaneous as if it was recorded during a fortnight. Recommendations: 'Shooting Stars', 'Look Away', 'Sugar On The Bone', 'End of Forever'r

I cannot deny the fact that these guys have the ability to produce good bluesy rock with a US essence, a la Led Zeppelin and The Black Crowes, but there is something that doesn't appeal to me that much. Maybe it's because everything sounds quite predictable and by the book or the lack of a song that would really stand out. Nevertheless, Feral Roots was a pleasant listen, albeit one I will never come back to, even though I can see why people are digging this album.
