1.5 very poorEXSCHISM | July 7th 23

So Dios band members set about recording the last album is they were working on while he was still with us. Then decided to continue to make music beyond that. Either way it's got issues just like most Dio records, being that the guitar, riffs, drums and such play to a generic & very forgettable hard rock / basic heavy metal styling. Everything here sounds like it's been done better before a million times. The production certainly doesn't help, carrying a fake and overpolished nature that sucks any authenticity out of this. Vocally this also falls pretty short, just on its own you could say that his voice is just okay, limited in range & pretty mediocre in timbre & tone. Having someone like Dio was always important to carry this type of music because it is just often so wholely boring on its own. Part of that issue is the pacing barely breaking a canter, especially notable in Already Dead, more than 45 seconds dedicated to a plodding riff with a weak vocal line repeating the 'Im already dead' line over and over. By that point any credibility this album has was certainly already dead.
