Review Summary: A glitch in the sound spectrum, a wave through our ears...
The Glitch Mob are a three man electronic project from Los Angeles, California that has developed an ecstatic group of followers over the years. With two albums and an EP under their belt, they claimed they wanted to focus more on the immersion factor with their new EP; did they succeed? "Piece of the Indestructible" is an engaging piece of electronic work with influences varying across the electronic spectrum.
The immediate stand out factor that "Piece of the Indestructible" has going for it is the frequent use of trance / eastern influenced electronics juxtaposed with to the floor beats and occasional dub segments thrown in here and there; while this doesn't fill all of the EP's three tracks, it still takes up a meaty portion. Build ups are strong, production is tight and everything is mixed to a splendid point. Where they shine however is in the unexpected closing track (and album highlight) "The Clouds Breathe For You", which is far and away the best track on the album, taking their native sound and slowing it to a snails pace for a complete sense of ambient wonder.
It's no wonder The Glitch Mob have become popular, showing a vast versatility in their sound even on short EPs such as this one. While three tracks may seem tiny, it only helps to build our anticipation for future work from this electronic trio.
