3.0 good | Wiggumpolice89 | November 3rd 12 | A short set of songs that sound more of an EP between Think Aloud and Secular. The album totals in under 30 minutes but Quiet Steps main focus here is storytelling. Not so much the dynamics or catharsis of Think Aloud but the way their lyrics are portrayed. The story tells of a man and his wife escaping the world of crime for a better life. Before reaching their destination his wife commits suicide. His bitterness leaves him isolated. The story ends with him following his wife into the afterlife. Much of the atmosphere is demonstrated by the abrasive guitars and daunting vocals. This LP serves more of a step into a new direction just like Secular did with the toned down vocals and prominence of the bass. Hopefully Quiet Steps expands on their lyrics as well as their earlier works from Think Aloud. Props for the motifs of drugs and super natural elements in the album adding to the mix of chaos throughout the story.
