What a great blend of somber Indie Rock and Folk music. Very chilled out for the most part,
with heavy arpeggiated based song structures and "Coming of Age" stories. Can feel a bit
samey and could have used some rockier tracks, but it's got some depth to it at least. If you
want to listen to one track, make it "Yellow Brick Road."

A fantastic mix of gorgeous psychedelic atmosphere's with trance undertones. You can't help

each section ideally. A very memorable journey.

Fates Warning Long Day Good Night
Fates' longest and arguably most diverse album yet. Almost a one stop shop for the Fates rsound without sounding like an overly contrived "Greatest Hits" album. There are songs that rcould have fit on older albums while others that sound like new territory. The band sounds rtight but feels like they had more fun with this album since it's more jam oriented. As with rall Fates records, it's a grower so give it time. Longest rShadow is a beast of a track and Jim Matheos is a genius & Metal titan

Opeth Heritage
The album is a step in the right direction for me, however it could've been executed in a better manner. The decision for vintage instrumentation and arrangements was definitely something I was looking forward to, and there are many instances of it's brilliance shining. However I feel Mikael held back with his experimentation and as a result a lot of the time it feels like the foundations for a great album were set but not enough was constructed over those foundations.

Steven Wilson sure knows how to create a landscape of sound which you can blissfully immerse yourself in and this album is a full blown out version of the psychedelic aspect of Stevens musical genious. Sure it's very long with many sections being repeated endlessly but it all makes sense when listened to in the correct context. The production is gorgeous with all the instruments sounding terrific and being well balanced in the overall mix. The soundscape of the album is also terrific, it really feels like you're swimming in an ocean of psychedelia and ambience. I enjoyed this album as much as I could while being in my senses, I can only imagine what it would feel like for the people in the mental state this album was intended for.

Storm Corrosion Storm Corrosion
This album is very moody, but not as much as I had anticipated and hoped for. The album has it's brooding moments but I had expected quite a bit more dissonance, tension and experimentation. I knew these 2 had it in them and so I wasn't surprised with the result. Expectations aside this is still a great record with terrific songwriting and great contributions from both Mr. Wilson and Mr. Akerfeldt, though I expected more vocal interplay between the 2. The production is good but I thought it could've been better, and the album could feel more "powerful" and "dark". There are many great moments on the record but I have to mention 2 which I enjoyed the most, the intro to Drag Ropes and the atmospheric section of Ljudet Innan, incredible, simplistic yet so impactful. THANK GOD they didn't make a prog metal album, we have plenty of those out there, the world needs more storm corrosion!

The band has changed it's style on every album, and this is probably their most mellow and melodic. If you enjoy the artsy/proggy side of bands like Riverside, Anathema, PT, then this is worth a spin. Enjoyable stuff, especially "Home"

It has a very somber vibe with an air of sophistication due to the instrumentation used as well as the core acoustic guitar foundation. The album mood can feel too tame overall, but the nice blend of folk, pop, blues, and even jazz make this album a pleasant listen

Even more diluted than Dissolution, which in itself was more diluted than their more aggressive albums like SHIM (even if it's my fav of theirs). 2.0 poor
Civil Twilight Holy Weather
Such a disappointing follow up to an incredible debut. The songwriting lacks that character that made the self titled such a great album, and it feels really watered down. An attempt at mainstream fame maybe? The next album better be a hell of a lot better
Disturbed Indestructible
In Flames Reroute to Remain
After the release of the whopping trilogy of vintage melodeath albums that helped refine the genre, I would understand if IF needed to change things up a bit to add some juice to their sound but this isn't what I had expected, there are interesting moments but scattered and as a consequence its tough to listen to the album continuously without skipping your way through. One special mention needs to be made of the solo on Trigger (which could be mistaken for the intro to Dark Signs), although it's short it leaves a sweet aftertaste, and its quite possibly the best part of the whole album, vintage Jesper.

Soilwork Natural Born Chaos
There are interesting musical ideas like the instrumental break of "The Bringer", the chorus and instrumental break of "Natural Chaos" and of course the glorious "Song of the Damned", but these are so scarce and short lived that one wonders if they could've been elaborated upon, maybe that would've put this album to memorable status.
