The Drift does pick up on elements introduced on Tilt (Mostly in the track The Cockfighter, which was the darkest and harshest track on the album) but takes them to new levels of extremity. The album Tilt had a sense of unease and harshness under the surface that felt like it could burst out at any time, only really doing so in the Cockfighter and very briefly in "Face on Breast"; "The Drift" puts it on full display.
