Chiodos Illuminaudio
This album is brilliant front to back.rThe transitions are the kind that make you rewind the
track and listen again, the vocal lines are the kind that you'll find yourself humming for
days, the harsh vocals are the kind that shoot adrenaline through your system and make you
want to destroy inanimate objects, and the drumming is the kind that you will play on your
lap when you're just sitting doing nothing. AOTY without a doubt. |

Counterparts The Current Will Carry Us
You want an hour of the most heartfelt lyrics with the most perfect delivery and music to rcompliment it? Go buy The Current Will Carry Us by Counterparts. The passion they put behind rtheir music is so unreal to me. Reflection is my favorite song of 2011, and this album will rprobably end up being my AOTY. If you like this band, listen to this album. It gets better rwith every listen, and you won't be disappointed. And yes, I am completely aware that I rrated this a 5. r@Durzzo COOL man, it's awesome that you value your opinion so much that you think that we rall give a shit about your "top 5 list"
Counterparts Prophets
This album is absolutely fantastic. Counterparts very successfully blends hardcore and metalcore, all the while adding their own flavor to it. The clean vocals are amazing and the patterns are very much unlike anything else in this genre. This is a band that has monumental amounts of future potential, considering how legendary the debut alone is.

It took a couple of listens, but I have decided that this is better than Discoveries! What makes it so good is that it's awesome for all of the same reasons Discoveries was while showing massive progression in almost every department at the same time. It sounds like they went up to 7 string guitars on this album and while that isn't all that should receive credit for their progression, it definitely added more complexity to their songwriting. Also, the vocals have stepped up big time on Singularity, both singing and screaming. I don't know how much this album will do in attracting new fans but any veteran fan will be satisfied.rCheck out: "Masquerade" and "Worldeater"

The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza Danza IIII: The Alpha - The Omega
Let me start this with I'm not necessarily a "fan" of this band, nor have I really listened to anything of theirs rbesides 3 and a few songs from 2. It may just be the initial hype(I honestly don't think so), but this is rprobably my favorite metalcore album to come out this year. It's not overbearing like 3 was and all of the rambient interludes and sound-bits give you time to catch your breath before the chaos kicks your ass again. rThe production is best of any Danza album to date. The heavy parts are huge and the melodic moments are reven bigger. The melodies are more frequent and overwhelming than they were on Danza 3, so fans rwho were wanting them to maintain the constantly chaotic sound may be unsure of this at first, but give it a rchance. Danza IIII is the perfect album for TTDTE to go out on, and it being the last planned release rfrom them(not to mention all of the music was recorded and written by 2 people) is all the more reason to rlisten to it. This fading "metalcore" scene needed an album of this calliber to raise the bar and this is it. Just rlisten to "Paul Bunyan And The Blue Ox" or "The Alpha/The Omega." The energy is unreal

In a nutshell, In The Silence Of The Night has the heavier and dissonant passages of Underoath's
Define the Great Line with the raw emotion of Touche Amore's To The Beat Of A Dead Horse.
Putting this in any one genre is fairly difficult, but nothing here hasn't been heard before. It's more that the
genre blending is rarely done as solidly, being as this is this band's first release. The vocals sound
reminiscent of Defeater's Travels, but a lot more desperate. There's a dark cloud hovering above this
album, but the lyrics are never quite clear as to what has the writer so bothered. One could argue that this
could bring down the complexity of the lyrics, but they're done so well that it's hard to critique. This band is
young but you wouldn't know unless you looked up a biography. Tons of future potential here, guys. |

How the fuck can a site that sucks Thrice's dick so much hate this as much as the ratings show? Pneuma part 2 would've been okay, but it wouldn't have been near as good as this is. This album is brilliant. It's emotional, atmospheric, and how could anyone dislike how beautifully ambient it is? I've agreed with Sputnik on a lot of things in my 2 years of being here, but this is something I don't and probably won't ever understand. This album rules.

Prawn You Can Just Leave It All
Redeemer First Degree
First Degree tells a sad story of Alcoholism and murder, and while the deliverance of the story seems enticing at first, it can seem a little too drawn out. Keeping in mind that this is a very young band, this EP does show tons and tons of potential while showing that a hardcore classic isn't necessarily out of reach, but this is in no way it. It's a concept album that gives the extremely Take It Back-esque vocals most of the spotlight. Check this out if you're a fan of Defeater or Take It Back.

It's a very fun 10 tracks that is almost like a breath of fresh air. They seem extremely comfortable with their writing style on this effort, and I look forward to future releases. |
