I think this album is classic. The reason is because it has all the elements of a true Black Metal album, and i think it is the best Black Metal album of all time. Has bad production which gives atmosphere, the classic Black Metal vocals, blast beat drumming, and some of the best guitar riffs i've heard on a Black Metal album.

Astarte Doomed Dark Years
Doomed Dark Years is the best album by Astarte by far. Mostly all the albums after this they lost their Black Metal image and turned into a Kittie look-alike and picked up a strong Melodic Death Metal influence. On this album its pure Black Metal. When i first got this i didnt know that they were all females until i looked them up on here and saw the picture. This album is up there with some of the Black Metal classics like Transilvanian Hunger and In The Nightside Eclipse. There is also a Folk Metal influence on this album because they use some folk instruments. The vocals on this album are some of the best i've heard from a Black Metal band. Drums are simple, riffs arent technical, but it fits this style of music. If you want to look into this band, this would be the album to get, as its their only good album.

Dark Funeral Attero Totus Sanctus
Everyone should know what to expect when you come into a Dark Funeral album. Extremely fast, raw, satanic Black Metal. There is really no other words to describe them. They do slow down some on Atrum Regina, but other than that this album is fast as hell. The guitars are fast tremlo picking and sometimes some melodic riffs. Drums are basically blast beats throughout the whole thing. Of course you cant hear the bass because its a Black Metal album. Emperor Magus Caligula's vocals are amazing as they always are. This is just a great album, just like the rest of Dark Funeral's discography. I reccomend this to fans of fast Black Metal bands like Marduk, Anaal Nathrakh, Gorgoroth, etc.

Limbonic Art Ad Noctum - Dynasty Of Death
This is probably the best album from Limbonic Art. Limbonic Art has always been one of my favorite Symphonic Black Metal bands. They aren't nearly as well known as other bands of the genre like Cradle Of Filth or Dimmu Borgir, but they are probably just as good. This is a pretty long album clocking in at a little over an hour. The length isnt an issue because it isnt boring. Reminds me a little bit of Enthrone Darkness Triumphant by Dimmu Borgir. If you are a fan of Black Metal, this album needs to be in your collection.

Sargeist Disciple of the Heinous Path
Are you the kind of person that only listens to Black Metal if it's symphonic or melodic? If you are, you're in the wrong place. Sargeist's most recent album Disciple Of The Heinous Path is 40 minutes of raw, evil Black Metal. If you are a fan of any of the first 4 Black Metal albums by Darkthrone, this will be right up your ally. Like many of you may be expecting, the production isn't good. You should know that coming into this album so you're not dissapointed. The song lengths range from 4 to 9 minutes. Most of them are pretty long, there is only 1 song that is about 4 minutes. Now you might think that a 9 minute song on a raw Black Metal album is boring...think again. I dont know about anyone else, but i didnt get bored for one second during this album. If you are a fan of any bands from the second wave of Black Metal, then you owe it to yourself to check this out. If you're just getting into Black Metal, i would say go for something more accesible first like Cradle Of Filth or the past 3 Immortal albums.

Walknut Graveforests And Their Shadows
This is one of the best black metal albums I've heard in a really long time. Walknut is probably the best atmospheric black metal band that I've heard. Other atmospheric black metal bands like Summoning are a lot more well known than this band and I can't see why. This album slays anything that I've ever heard from Summoning. Don't expect any melodic shit from this album either. This is cold, hateful black metal. Can't wait to see what this band does in the future.

Wolves in the Throne Room Black Cascade
And to think that I used to hate this band. Wolves in the Throne Room have further solidified their place as one of the best bands black metal has to offer with Black Cascade. They go for more of a straight black metal album with Black Cascade, eliminating all of the female vocals and a lot of the folk elements from the previous two albums. This is just straight up epic black metal at its finest. Fans of Burzum or Walknut should get on this album asap.

Borknagar Borknagar
This is Borknagar before all of the Folk Metal and Viking Metal influences. This album is true Black Metal. You wont find any clean vocals from Garm or any melodic riffs. The lineup for this debut album by Borknagar is Garm (Arcturus, Ulver) on vocals, Infernus (Gorgoroth) on bass, Grim (Immortal) on drums, Ivar Bjornson (Enslaved) on keyboards, and founding member Oystein G. Brun on guitars. Like most of the true Black Metal that came out in the 90's, this album has bad production, it gets kind of repetitive, and there is not melody whatsoever. With all that said, this is still a very good album and it shows a different, more raw side to Borknagar.

The regular Thornography album is probably the best they have released since Midian in 2000. The special edition should give hope to all the people that haved turned their backs on Cradle Of Filth over the years. All of the new songs, not including the covers or the opening instrumental, all sound like they could've come right off of Midian or Dusk And Her Embrace. They are all much faster than anything on the regular album. The covers are also great. Halloween II shows Dani using some clean vocals again and Sarah shines on Stay, doing most of the vocals. Hopefully this is only part of what's yet to come. The new album should be out in the summer of this year so watch out for it.

This album is great. My friend played it for me and i never heard of this band at that time. After that i loved this band. I still need a copy of this because i dont have one. This band is pretty unknown i guess. They should be heard because they are very good. They are on the raw side of Black Metal mixed in with a little bit of Folk Metal. They kind of sound like Nokturnal Mortum, but better IMO. I reccomend that all Black Metal fans get this if you can find it (which i still havent).

Its the worst album they've released, but its not all that bad. Pretty repetitive. There are some standouts like the title track, One Day You Will Cry, Done With Everything Die For Nothing, and Banned From Heaven. The worst thing about this album is Alexi's vocals. They are completely shot. Thank god he's still decent on the guitar. For everyone who thinks that this is a Power Metal album or that COB is a Power Metal band, you are mistaken. This album is Melo-Death/Thrash Metal. If you're a die-hard COB fan you should get this, but if you're looking for something new to get into, start with Follow The Reaper or Are You Dead Yet?

Gorgoroth Incipit Satan
This is Gorgoroth's worst album IMO. They do a lot of experimenting on this album. They mix electronic and some weird noises into this album. Some stuff sounds like the post-Nattens Madrigal era of Ulver with Black Metal shrieks courtesy of Gaahl. The production is good. I dont really like it that much, but if you're a huge Black Metalhead like me, then you should probably check it out. You never know, you might really like it, that just wasnt the case with me. A couple of songs i did like though are Incipit Satan, An Excerpt Of X, and When Love Rages Wild In My Heart.

Slipknot Slipknot
Really one of the worst metal albums i have ever heard. Corey is probably the worst vocalist this world has ever seen. He's even worse live. Nu Metal in general is completely worthless. All the bands sound exactly the same and a bunch of people think its so heavy and brutal, but its definitely not. I reccomend staying away from this horrible album.

Going into this album i was expecting another great Industrial Black Metal album. What i got was a full on Industrial Metal album with no traces of Black Metal at all. With me being a Black Metal fan and not an Industrial Metal fan, this album made me angry. When i was listening i was just thinking "What in living hell was Nagash thinking when he wrote this album." I think when they mix Black Metal and Industrial Metal, it sounds good, but this is just too much. If you're a fan of Industrial Metal, you will most likely enjoy this, but if you're more of a Black Metal fan, you should definitely avoid this and get their other 3 albums.
