| Dedes Hawks jam new Benighted is there best album since Asylum Cave
| Jurtz Hey dude, I love reading your reviews and I saw that Foreshadowing our Demise from Skinless desperately needs a review. Something for you?
| PortalofPerfection Finally got on the new Frail Body. Super good Liking it more than I was expecting to.
| 0GuyMan0 Yo, listen to more Queensryche!
| DoofDoof It?s a fun album right? Where I am with it is about 8 of the tracks on it are amazing and then the rest is just ok. I should probably bump it to a 4, been trying his earlier stuff and there is some good s*** there too
| Drifter https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=205631
| Gmork89 Well s*** dude I'm sorry to hear that, hope all is working out, I'm always available for a chat my dude. I'm doing well, have a 4 month old baby so just living the baby life haha.

| DDDeftoneDDD Quicky check, so awesome https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=404032
| budgie budgie - never turn your back on a friend
| budgie yeah i remember that. i don't like sampled drums 99% of the time it's an instant no. summoning is like a special case. you should check nachzehrer - eternal deities, really good lofi like transilvanian hunger
| budgie good luck. post black bathory is a huge miss for me i hate it all but im a bitch. i want more albums in that old coven style
| budgie ya the vengeful spirits album i heard and i appreciate the dbeats in it but wasnt wow'd
| budgie ya the front end of transilvanian glare is ****ing flawless reminds me a lot of blaze in the northern sky
| Dedes All That Has Never Been True is ****ing mysterious and cathartic check it, it's like Ruins of Beverast and Weakling ****ed and had a surprisingly melodic DSBM lovechild
| Dedes Hawks you ever jam Ultha
| bighubbabuddha i bet you enjoy baby oil with her then bro, hubba hubba
| onionbubs and then on the other side of things lol you might dig palm reader, who were this like mxc/hxc adjacent thing that gradually worked in more posty stuff and hit an insane peak with their last two albums. unfort they just called it quits but they had a real magic to them
| onionbubs given you have neverbloom at a 4, make them suffer's old souls might be worth a shot. they kinda try and blend their deathcore influence with a more metalcore centric sound on that one and its real cool. it is what i am presently jamming atm lol. you might dig
| PortalofPerfection I just got on that new Dodsrit too bro, epic AF, them solos are killer. Sounds like if Windir listened to too much Iron Maiden lol
| bighubbabuddha Alcest new single was top-tier, I've got fingers crossed it will be a top 3 album
| DDDeftoneDDD Hey Hawks. You need to check Dodsrit newest. Big hug m/
| PostmanPat oops. I double posted. Uh. Now I triple posted. Uh. K well. See ya in 2 months.
| PostmanPat what is a shoutbox? heyi Hawks ur cool but Contortionist is rly gud, dummy.
| Butkuiss What is the secret to a successful marriage?
| Rowhaus Couldn't help but notice you jammed Anomalies today lol. You gotta check Lucid Interval bro it's INSANE. Hadn't jammed it in such a long time m/
| unclereich raised your approval rating a whole percent you're welcome
| unclereich im glad you didn't cave to the lib agenda and opened your shoutbox again
| bighubbabuddha would recc the new Judas Priest buddy , thanks for the BM reccs
| bighubbabuddha thanks broski, have a good evening! Got plenty of inspiration :)
| bighubbabuddha both 4s, will defo be checking out more crippled children, more pls
| bighubbabuddha I'm getting into black metal, love alcest and deafheaven, where should i go from there bro
| evilford Also, it does not have a rev ;;;;;;;]]]]]]]]
| evilford Get back to me on those. Think you've heard all my 5s that are dm but I've thought about 5ing these at times. 3 of my absolute fav lesser-known dm gems
| evilford Thanatos - Realm of Ecstacy, Imprecation - Theurgia Goetia Summa, Merciless - The Treasures Within
| Comatorium. That convulsing album upended my entire opinion of a genre. Good ass review.
| DoofDoof You love this band, always think it?s crazy you find a band who have been around for ages and you realise they are classic and you have loads of catching up. I find about ten like that a year and it freaks me out. Why did all sput reviews have that format in the early years lol
| Futures glad to see you're still kickin brother m/
| Rowhaus good to see you back brotha
| hexfix93 Yo, I know we've only talked briefly on here and s***, and idk what's up, but I hope you're good man.
| Jash Love you too bro, I know I rec?d this before but not sure if you checked it or not, Skullcrusher ?Quiet The Room?, I know how much you love Grouper so I think this will blow you away
| FearThyEvil Harlots are more post-metal mixed in and they nail that atmosphere
| FearThyEvil Damn that's high praise! I know youd your lists but for some solid metalcore check Snapcase and Harlots (specifically Betrayer for Harlots). Both super underrated groups in that genre
| FearThyEvil Yup, let's just jam some good metal! I should definitely check that Convulsing album soon at some point.
| Dewinged There's nothing to apologize for, dude. I'm sorry it got you the way it did but I understand your reaction. Just so you know, I still value your presence, reviews and lists, red tag or not, so take a breather if you need to, but know that you'll always be welcome here.
| Spec He?s a strong one, this one.
| evilford Love u too buddy, I hear that. That's one of life's biggest challenges for me too, just keeping s*** alright irl. U need to chat or anything hmu, I'll never think less of u
| FearThyEvil So was I, man! I'm going through s*** too and I have no excuse to treat you like I did. Obviously we hashed things out and can move on and be chill. Hope you find the peace you need or any help that may be ailing you.
| FearThyEvil I appreciate that and to be honest I went a little overboard and was very harsh myself. Let us let bygones be bygones and we're all cool again. I shouldn't have went overboard like I did. now let's just get back to enjoying some music like the site allows
| pizzamachine Thanks Hawks, hope you know we all still love you though
| Hyperion1001 ive been trying to figure out how to not stress over bulls*** my entire adult life brother. I can?t recommend therapy enough. it helped me through some very tough and scary times. we all struggle and having someone to help you navigate through it is invaluable
| Hyperion1001 my 2 cents is that sowing and Willie and Jom are great guys who do a lot of good work but this site is functionally dead. hasn?t beend in a decade, constant bugs and malware, forums ared and no one can even make a new account. the titles are just ceremonial at this point. it genuinely doesn?t mean anything. I wouldn?t get too worked up over it, like I said you?re a spiritual contrib which means more.
| Hyperion1001 of course buddy. i hope you stick around, we need ya. you?ll always be contrib in our hearts.
| BAT tsall good lol, mainly recced it out of nostalgia/obscurity hopefully you get a kick out of its 2000s-ness, it's average is probably a tad deceptive but it's charming lol. been slackin on listening to stuff lately. great project pat review tho that or ghetty the first 36 related album i heard growing up, older brothers used to blast it in their 90s caprices lol
| heck did u ever listen to that gardsghastr album
| Drifter yeah i like kray's most recent album quick fix 3. some really cool ideas on it. bizzy is still a stellar rapper but i just dont like his beats
| DoofDoof Love to see that Sophtware Slump rating - you thinking of trying the lo-fi debut ?Under the Western Freeway? sometime soon?
| Dedes Ok yeah this Skinless album is p goddamn meaty, some of the most nasty sewage gutturals i've heard in all of DM. Love this mother****ers lows lol
| InfernalDeity Appreciate that. I don't have any designs for Staff. I've only been contrib for a year and I have a lot of things going on work-wise so I have to see how I can adjust my time.
| InfernalDeity I'm sure you'll get tapped for it. I think that decision is left up solely to staff, but you've been posting some great reviews so don't stress it too much
| Winsomniac Its wild! I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Married even!! That's awesome! And yeah, I talked to my current gf about the old tinychat days not long ago haha
| InfernalDeity I am a maiden fanboy, and I love chemical wedding. But dude this last release is just so boring
| InfernalDeity Dude my rating for the new bruce dickinson release is going to be so ****ing low lol
| BAT nice nice lookin forward to it, i still ought to check out serpent column annnd that stortregn album seems up my alley
| Dedes Nah mate I haven't, currently on COL finally and tryna expand my dark folk repertoire i.e Sandre De Muerdargo atm but I'll try jamming it soon. Really in the mood to soak in a lot of new music rn
| Dedes Just jamming Swallowed I see. Lmao that album is FREAKY. One of the most pleasantly ugly things i've ever heard
| InfernalDeity Great write up on vomit forth man. I'm glad you digged it
| Winsomniac I mostly lurk these days lol, haven't really been keeping up w/ music as much as before. Hope you're doing well!
| Jash Hell ya dude, she recorded the album herself in an apartment and plays every instrument, which was a huge left field step from her previous work. One of my all time favs for sure
| garas Yesss!! I'm so happy you liked it!!
| garas You are in for a treat, Hawks. Thangorodrim is one of the best dungeon synth artist on the globe, and Taur-nu-Fuin is indeed a masterpiece! I hope you'll 'feel' it!
| Zac124 Nice. Excited to see what you think!
| Inveigh **** yeah man! Both albums slay for days
| DoofDoof If you like evil sounding ambient that is the first thing you check! 'Heresy' or 'The Place Where the Black Stars Hang' are the best starting point with them
| DoofDoof Only given the Quiet Divide one and a half listens so far but I dig it - not terrifying dark ambient like Lustmord but definitely an unsettling atmosphere that is honestly more everyday approachable than some dark ambient, will report back when I have listened another three or so times
| DoofDoof Yeah I gave you a real mix of stuff, would be really unlikely anyone would enjoy it all an even amount (or some of it at all lol) - Hans Chew is more jam country/southern rock with prominent piano, not sure it totally meets the brief tbh but his stuff is just good drinking music with a bit of virtuosity in there at times.
| PortalofPerfection Bro that new Job for a Cowboy is wtffgffffgftggffff ridiculous holy hell
| Sevengill been vibing with your faves lately, good stuff. lemme know what you think of new bork.
| DoofDoof I tried the Dead Texan after reading your list and yeah, that is perfect - will try out the Black Swan, cheers man
| DoofDoof I started listening to a lot more ambient last year too, the Jonny Nash is some excellent guitar driven ambient from 2023 if you want some more ambient stuff that is a little bit more lively. The Harp is chill in its own way though
| DoofDoof if one choice is not your thing for any year I can find you another, I guess the picks lean mostly towards americana, but things like the Jonathan Wilson and the Anna and Elizabeth have some psychedelic elements
| DoofDoof 2023 Harp 'Albion', 2022 The Unthanks 'Sorrows Away', 2021 Bonnie Prince Billy 'Superwolves', 2020 Sam Lee 'Old Wow', 2019 Purple Mountains 'Purple Mountains', 2018 Anna and Elizabeth 'The Invisible', 2017 Hans Chew 'Open Sea', 2016 Richmond Fontaine 'You Can't Go Back', 2015 James McMurtry 'Complicated Game', 2014 The Delines 'Colfax', 2013 Jonathan Wilson 'Fanfare', 2012 Tindersticks 'The Something Rain', 2011 Cass McCombs 'Wits End', 2010 Sun Kil Moon 'Admirals Fall Promises'
| DoofDoof Nice one Hawks, getting to the really good genres now! A cheeky pick per year, not always the highest thing rated for that year but for whatever reason stood out as maybe an interesting choice...I will not be offended if you select your favourite two or three to check from this list and discard the rest for now ;)
| hexfix93 I've been good though. Trying to catch up on some dm. I know you got a lot of recs but you really should jam those albums I posted in your list lol
| hexfix93 I haven't been listening to rap either, but I wasn't sure if you might've seen that on the news or something. Maybe it was just local news, idk. Kinda cool though, but I think someone stole the sign lmao https://www.clevescene.com/news/e-99th-and-st-clair-intersection-to-be-named-in-honor-of-bone-thugs-n-harmony-42247884
| Dewinged Nice! Looking forward to your thoughts on it!
| InfernalDeity I conservatively gave it a 4.5, but there honestly isnt a single track that I dislike. Maybe am AOTY contender for me
| Dedes Abso****inglutely. Jam A Giant Bound to Fall. Imagine like, In Mourning song structures with the emotional VIBE of Insomnium and it's kinddd of what that's like. Issa pretty album.
| Dedes Hey my d00d ever jam Eternal Storm
| Orb Crap u already know it
| Orb Gave u a heavy one
| BAT absolutely, gotta check for some reviewless stuff but i'll find something fun
| InfernalDeity Good luck on the application man, looking forward to seeing you as contrib
| Dewinged Good luck dude, you've been prolific lately so that'll help!
| brainmelter hey bruh youd your February metal list huh? I went to go check if you heard my rec and nah its gone lol
| Wildcardbitchesss aye chief, hope there?s no hard feelings about that Toby Keith thread. I really wasn?t directly calling you out, and what you said, even though I do disagree with it, it is far more reasonable of a stance than a lot of far right crazies. You?re a cool ass dude and I?ve always liked ya even before you left the site for a lil while.
| Comatorium. I think you know the answer to the question you raised in your vitriol sound off. He?s a 15 year old edgelord at best lmao
| bighubbabuddha Legit the same, the grind is real. If you could recc one death metal album what wld it be?
| budgie u promised me a s***hammered review!!!!
| JohnnyoftheWell np man, end of the day we're all here for the music. wouldn't say i'm an expert at all though - spent the last couple of years getting a decent genre orientation, but i've got a long way to go!
| JohnnyoftheWell hmmm Monolake - debut Cinemascope, Vladislav Delay - Entain, Multila, Anima, Whistleblower (in that order), Shinichi Atobe - Butterfly Effect ( first EP), The Field - first 3 The Follower, Evan Mark and Steve Hillage - Dreamtime Submersible
| InfernalDeity I'm really enjoying dead texan. If you haven't listened to them yet, check out global communication. Also, steve roach mystic chords
| InfernalDeity I see you liked that Jan Jelinek album quite a bit. Makes the brain go brrrrr
| InfernalDeity I'm sorry man, I just couldn't get into it lol. It was a really great write up though
| VlacDrac Doing alright, finding new albums. Lists are always useful when it comes to finding new artists, speaking of which, I'd like to thank you for your lists.
| aok care for strength. I have that
| ThyCrossAwaits https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=301828Gotta check this ma bwoi, you?ll love it. Also The Spiral is awesome.
| aok 4 is I think staff fwiw
| aok 145 reviews later. still not contrib? what's the reqd like 4 new albums a year?
| hexfix93 Sup dude? How have you been? Also, did you ever end up checking out E. 99th? I'm sure you've heard by now but they actually added "Bone Thugs N Harmony Way" with a pic of the group on the E. 99th street sign haha. Thought you'd get a kick out of that.
| Assemblage Hey, you should check out the two Dismal Aura releases in order, like 30 mins each.
| Assemblage Hellz yeah! I was afraid I might have butchered the tags on that one cause there's so many nuanced, sub-styles throughout. It's crazy how it's so short, it hits so many damn areas. ****ing dope you checked it out.!!
| ToSmokMuzyki and out of all johnnys 5s dolphinz are the only 3
| Dylan620 The new Hoplites alb is an absolute ripper
| budgie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWH2hTbzj0M
| efp123 Make sure you drink/do drugs before it!!! ^_~ ****in with ya, but yeah welcome back to the music review retirement home
| Veldin Hell yeah! I?m already checking out Cave Sermon bc of your last list. Good stuff
| efp123 You got rid of your experimental recs list? you gotta try Inventions-Continuous Portrait
| Veldin Hawks, you rawks! Thank you for sharing what ended up being some of my favorite albums of ?23. I?ve been scoping your ratings lately when I jam a metal album haha I dig your taste, mate. Cheers and Happy New Year!
| Dewinged I just wrote you on the Saor thread but yeah, you'll see. First half for me was clearly superior to side B, but let's see how u feel about it!
| ToSmokMuzyki omgomgomg im sorry for s***ting n cumming in your shoutbox
| zaruyache what hawks get banz0red for again this time

| budgie production too clean lol. i am a bitch about that
| ToSmokMuzyki maybe it was carnifex idk theyre all the same to me
| ToSmokMuzyki used to see their names all the time and never listened plus has been in my spot for like 6 months when i added sum famous derpcore. also wym u i saw u 4 one of them
| evilford Yeah dude that brodequin album is the real deal
| evilford Jammin that brodequin album, pretty fuggin sweet so far. Couldn't find the other one tho
| Atari glad to see that Inherits the Void did it for you ;)
| LilLioness Most Gothic and Doom Metal sounds lame to me, because Type O Negative is the apex of that kinda sound. It is the reason why even though I am a Black Metal newb, I am not even on the Doom Metal chart.
| Galbador Give Shade Empires debut a listen man! Forgotten album and only thing they have done that rivals Omega arcane.
| WretchedCacophony I could've sworn you did a hiphop list and I found an album I really liked but can't find it in my history and can't find the list
| evilford How many albums do u rate a day lol
| evilford Ok man ill try lol. Kinda drowning in recs rn
| oltnabrick Check Effluence and Infertile Surrogacy and Dripping yeah yeah
| Atari Cool, hope you enjoy it!
| Atari Rec for you if you haven't heard it already from this year: Inherits The Void - The Impending Fall of the Stars
| garas Heyo Hawks. If you have some, this one could be interesting to you: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/87982/DVVAD-MRKLB/
| PortalofPerfection From Deha, check: A Fleur De Peau - III - A Fire That Does Not Burn, and from Imber Luminis check: Contrasts.
| PortalofPerfection Dude, I had no idea Slow is the same guy that goes by "Deha" and also does Imber Luminis. Dude is a Damian of Sadness-like machine. Doing a full discog run of Slow now. Amazing stuff. Slow more or less got better and better over time.
| PortalofPerfection Bruh. BRUH. New Slow?is ****ING. REE. DICULOUS. Ridiculous man. Best FD album I've heard in 10 years, maybe longer. 5'd on my first listen.
| frozencarl you should czech the new Qwalen https://qwaelen.bandcamp.com/album/syv-hiljaisuus
