one of the main philly bands to pay attention to, getting bigger by the week but still DIY and keeping it interesting. lots of bands from philly are Alex G pilled and u can definitely hear that here with tagabow. the first song i'm linking i think is my most played song ever on spotify which is pretty remarkable 4 me. song 2 showcases a really good spread of their sound, shoegaze, slowcore, DNB, etc

new jersey's Pale Shade is one of the heaviest sounding 3 piece bands in this world rn. this album came out this year and was engineered by the same person that records Cloakroom, and i think that production style rly works in their favor. this song is a top of the year for me in this genre

this band seems to have started in Utah but is now more all over. similar to the cloakroom style of heavy gaze, this album is perfect for if ur in the mood for loud fuzzy guitars, airy vox, crushing produciton etc. they also have a cover of Heading for the Door by duster and it's sick.

another philly band. knifeplay clearly takes a lot of songwriting influence from folk and u can tell on last year's album, Animal Drowning. the verses of the song i'm linking are all a quote from the Sopranos, "you're born into this shit and you are what you are". their first LP, pearlty, is more straightforward and has some bangers, so def check that too

obviously this band is huge but they somehow have no reviews on this site and therefore no way for me to bump a thread and be like "_____ is so fuckin good" and they deserve that in my opinion!!!! ending part 1 with this band because they are a huge component in all of these new kinds of songs, as they are from philly and have been doing a similar thing since like 2015. it's super hard to pick just one song of theirs to share so i'm gonna do 3 again bc they deserve it. in my life most people around me prefer their 2018 album Hypnic Jerks and i personally am very first album / you are arrived EP. please review one of their albums ffs because i am literally not gonna do it
