In 1987, Michael released 'Faith,' a landmark pop/R&B album, which sold 10 million copies and gave rise to no less than seven hit singles, the pick of which are 'Faith,' 'Father Figure' and 'I Want Your Sex.' The album was an instant success, hitting the #1 spot worldwide, as would every one of his original solo efforts subsequently.
Since then, Michael has taken his time, leaving years between album releases. His absences from the mainstream have done little to curb his mass appeal, nor has his unfortunately too-public sexual mishaps, as current album 'Patience' (as of December 2005) has racked up 3 million sales and spawned four hit singles.
