Ween are made up of a pair of "brothers", Geen Ween and Dean Ween. They were typing together in junior high until all of a sudden, the boognish came and gave them the scepter of wealth and power. They used this scepter during the rest of their teenage years to make music and they wrote about 1000 songs all by themselves. In 1990, twenty-six of those songs arrived on their first album, GodWeenSatan: The Oneness (on the 2001 remaster, three songs that didn't make the cut were later added). After their second album (The Pod), Elektra was eager to sign them onto their record label, which gained them popularity during their next two releases, Pure Guava and Chocolate and Cheese. The Ween brothers went downhill in mainstream music with 12 Golden Country Greats and The Mollusk, but they managed to still have a big fan base and continue making albums to keep them entertained, including White Pepper, Quebec, and their B-side compilation Shinola. Since then Ween has made plans to release a new album, and have been writing songs in their new recording studio, which is a 200 year old stone farmhouse in Pennsylvania. « hide |
