Melodic death metal and Gothenburg have been going strong for over 15 years since its inception. Combining the lead guitars and heavy melodic style of Swedish melodic death with experimentation, In Flames has never needed to resort to rehashing and recycling. Every album is new and innovative. With their modern sound they have taken a new route with elements ranging from death metal to industrial, yet never stray from their flare from heavy metal with memorable melodies and the ambition to break down boundaries. Their next album, A Sense of Purpose, was released this year, and from songs such as The Mirror's Truth and Eraser, it looks to be one of In Flames most triumphant albums yet.
