He Has Left Us Alone is sheer sadness mixed with unrelenting intensity. Each track
intensifies as they progress, yet always retain a hint of melancholy and never lose their
ambient identity. Every emotion this album incites is beautiful. The album's 45-minute
length flies by at unfathomable speeds but still leaves the listener satisfied with the
experience. It may not be quite as effective as some Godspeed You! Black Emperor
releases, but both artists are different and this comparison is just unfair. Despite all
I have said, He Has Left Us Alone still has a certain unique charm to it that I can't
quite put my finger on. |

Amon Amarth Deceiver of the Gods | 3.5 |
Children of Bodom Holiday At Lake Bodom (15 Years Of Wasted Youth) | 3.5 |
It's missing many essential songs, such as "Bodom After Midnight," "Children of Bodom,"and
"Hatebreeder," but it is still a very good compilation album that represents each Bodom
album correctly. |
Rob Zombie Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor | 2.5 |
Some of the songs are catchy and energetic, but the majority are merely average. "Dead City Radio" and "Lucifer Rising" are two highlights, but nothing else really stood out. The lyrical content on this album is atrocious, some of Rob Zombie's absolute worst. |
Five Finger Death Punch The Wrong Side of Heaven and The Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1 | 2.0 |
Butcher Babies Butcher Babies | 1.0 |
Amon Amarth Twilight of the Thunder God | 4.0 |
Not a single bad track on here. The title track is one of the greatest melodic death metal songs of all time, while Embrace the Endless Oceans and Where Is Your God are also incredibly good. |
Megadeth Risk | 2.0 |
Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞ | 5.0 |
Megadeth Endgame | 3.5 |
Arguably the best Megadeth album since Rust in Peace. From the opening of "Dialectic Chaos" to the last notes of "The Right to Go Insane," this album simply works. Despite a notable loss of Marty Friedman and Nick Menza, the guitar solos are just as genius as ever and the drumming is powerful and aggressive. I'd recommend this to any Megadeth fan. |
Slayer Show No Mercy | 3.5 |
An underrated thrash album for sure. Despite horrid production and some pretty weak lyrics, the genius of
Slayer still shines through on songs like "Black Magic" and "Die By the Sword." |
Slayer God Hates Us All | 2.0 |
While "Disciple" and "Bloodline" are both great songs, the album's concept grows rather thin, with many forgettable and uninspired songs. |
Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell | 2.5 |
The songs are far too long and overblown. Also some of these songs, in all there 12-minute long glory, have lyrics which make absolutely no sense. |
Venom Welcome to Hell | 3.5 |
Five Finger Death Punch The Way Of The Fist | 2.0 |
Children of Bodom Hatebreeder | 4.5 |
Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell | 4.0 |
Butthole Surfers Locust Abortion Technician | 4.0 |
The most disturbing album I've ever listened to all the way through. "Sweat Loaf" and "Kuntz" are absolutely hilarious, while "Graveyard" is extremely disturbing. Worth checking out for anyone who wants to subject their ears to weird shit for 50 minutes. |
Slipknot Slipknot | 3.5 |
Warbringer Worlds Torn Asunder | 4.0 |
While it won't please anyone who isn't a fan of 21st Century thash, "Worlds Torn Asunder" is still a solid, powerful album made by people who are truly passionate about playing thrash metal. |
Lamb of God Ashes of the Wake | 3.0 |
System of a Down Mezmerize | 4.0 |
It may not be as quirky or insane as their older releases, but there are some really fantastic songs on here. "BYOB," "Revenga," and "Sad Statue" are all classics, while "Lost In Hollywood" stands on its own as the best System of a Down ballad. |
System of a Down Hypnotize | 2.5 |
System of a Down Steal This Album! | 4.0 |
Lou Reed and Metallica Lulu | 1.0 |
It's times like this where I really wish I could rate this less than a 1. This has to be one of the all-time worst albums in existence on every single aspect. This album only has ONE thing going for it: it is unintentionally hilarious to hear James Hetfield sing "I am the table!" and to hear Lou Reed claim that he is "just a small town girl." Listen to this album for a good laugh, but if you want quality music, I suggest you stay as far away from Lulu as humanly possible. |
Helloween Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I | 3.5 |
Black Sabbath Paranoid | 4.0 |
Paranoid is an overrated album in that it's not the best Black Sabbath album. However, it has some great songs on it. "Paranoid," "Iron Man," "War Pigs" and "Planet Caravan" all stand out as true classics of the heavy metal genre. |
Megadeth Super Collider | 1.5 |
"Kingmaker" is a good song, reminding me on something that could easily have been on
Endgame. As for the rest of the album...mehhhh... |
Slayer South of Heaven | 4.0 |
Iron Maiden Iron Maiden | 4.0 |
Paul Di'anno is an inferior vocalist to Bruce Dickinson, but his voice still suits this album just fine. There are some solid songs on here, despite lacking the crystal-clear production that future Iron Maiden albums would have. "Phantom of the Opera" is one of the best Iron Maiden songs of all time. |
Disturbed Ten Thousand Fists | 2.5 |
Disturbed The Sickness | 2.5 |
N.W.A. Straight Outta Compton | 4.0 |
In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading | 2.0 |
The title track is great, but the album has little to offer. |
Type O Negative The Best of Type O Negative | 4.0 |
Machine Head Unto the Locust | 2.5 |
The album has a few standout tracks, but little else to offer. The songs are usually quite long (6-8 minutes in length). This sometimes works in the band's favor, as songs like "Darkness Within" and "Locust" have enough variety throughout to support their overlong length. However, most of the songs end up being incredibly boring, as they do little with the 8 minutes they are given. In short, "Unto the Locust" is interesting and is still a worthwhile listen, but is far from being great. |
Vektor Black Future | 3.5 |
Metallica Garage Inc. | 2.5 |
In my opinion, the only worthwhile song on here is the "Mercyful Fate" medly. Besides that, this album is nothing more than standard covers of the same or less quality of the original song. |
Stone Sour House of Gold and Bones - Part 2 | 3.0 |
Stone Sour House of Gold and Bones - Part 1 | 3.5 |
An extremely strong album from start to finish. "Gone Sovereign" kicks off the album with tremendous momentum and Stone Sour never let up. |
Metallica Reload | 1.5 |
Metallica Ride the Lightning | 4.5 |
Metallica Metallica | 4.0 |
System of a Down Toxicity | 5.0 |
System of a Down System of a Down | 4.5 |
Megadeth Countdown to Extinction | 3.5 |
"Symphony of Destruction," "Sweating Bullets," and "Foreclosure of a Dream" are Megadeth classics. The rest of the album, however, falls into radio-friendly rock territory and is, for the most part, not on par with what Megadeth has done before. |
Marilyn Manson Mechanical Animals | 2.0 |
"Mechanical Animals" has a great concept and is fun to listen to all the way through. However, it has quite a bit of filler and never does anything overly interesting. |
Death Leprosy | 4.0 |
"Pull the Plug" is the unofficial national anthem of Death Metal. |
Metallica Death Magnetic | 3.0 |
Five Finger Death Punch American Capitalist | 2.5 |
Children of Bodom Skeletons in the Closet | 2.0 |
This is a mostly worthless album. Unless you get a kick out of a metal cover of "Oops...I Did It Again" I suggest you stay away from this album. |
Mastodon Crack the Skye | 4.5 |
Megadeth Rust in Peace | 4.5 |
Pantera The Great Southern Trendkill | 4.0 |
Floods, Suicide Note 1 and 2, and the title track are Pantera classics. All-in-all, it's a great listen for any Pantera fan, but don't expect another "Cowboys From Hell." |
Dream Theater Octavarium | 2.5 |
Vektor Outer Isolation | 3.5 |
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast | 4.0 |
A slightly overrated classic. Don't get me wrong, this is a great album. However, Iron Maiden has shown that they can be far better than this on future records, like Powerslave or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. "Run to the Hills" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name" are classic Maiden tunes, while "Number of the Beast" may be the greatest Maiden song ever written. |
Metal Church Metal Church | 4.5 |
Right from the opening distorted vocals on "Beyond the Black," one can tell that this album is going to be brilliant. And it is; while it is not a perfect album, it is still a classic and a mandatory listen for ANY metalhead. |
Metallica Kill 'Em All | 4.0 |
So many excellent songs on here without a single bad one. "Seek and Destroy," "The Four Horsemen," "Hit the Lights," and "Motorbreath" are undeniable classics of the thrash metal genre. |
Muse Showbiz | 3.0 |
An uneven album without a doubt. There are too many soft ballads, and the occassionally trite lyrics detract significantly from the album. Despite this, "Showbiz" contains several fantastic Muse songs, such as "Sunburn," "Muscle Museum" and "Cave." |
Stormtroopers of Death Bigger Than the Devil | 3.0 |
Slayer Reign in Blood | 5.0 |
Muse The Resistance | 3.0 |
Metallica Load | 1.5 |
Even as a rock album, "Load" fails. It is straight-up boring and has no standout tracks. It goes against what Metallica and heavy metal stood for, and it can't even succeed as the bluesy-rock album that it is trying to be. |
Megadeth So Far, So Good... So What! | 3.0 |
There are some great songs on here. Unfortunately, there are a lot of average songs, too. "Into the Lungs of Hell," "Set the World Afire" and the fan-favorite "In My Darkest Hour" are all fantastic songs worthy of the highest praise. |
Slipknot All Hope Is Gone | 2.5 |
Slipknot Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses | 4.0 |
An uneven album for sure, but it still has enough great songs on it to make the album worthwhile. |
Slipknot Iowa | 2.0 |
Although "Left Behind" and "People = Shit" are great, Iowa has little to offer. The title track is the worst Slipknot song ever, as it is well over ten minutes long and, despite its promise, does nothing interesting whatsoever. |
Stormtroopers of Death Speak English or Die | 4.0 |
Muse Absolution | 4.0 |
Muse The 2nd Law | 3.0 |
The two songs sung by Christopher Wolstenholme are great additions to the album, as are the songs "Supremacy" and "Animals." The rest of the album is pretty average. |
Muse Black Holes & Revelations | 3.5 |
Muse Origin of Symmetry | 5.0 |
“New Born," "Citizen Erased," and "Megalomia" are highlights |
Burzum Filosofem | 4.0 |
One of the darkest and most unique black metal albums ever made in my opinion. |
Type O Negative Bloody Kisses | 4.0 |
Five Finger Death Punch War Is The Answer | 3.0 |
Mercyful Fate Melissa | 4.5 |
While not as good as their sophomore album, Mellissa still has a ton to offer listeners. "Evil" is rprobably Mercyful Fate's best song ever written. |
Megadeth Th1rt3en | 3.0 |
Iron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh Son | 4.5 |
The story is cohesive and all of the songs are superb. What more can you ask for from a concept album? |
Iron Maiden Somewhere in Time | 3.5 |
Havok Time Is Up | 4.0 |
Pantera Vulgar Display of Power | 3.5 |
Despite having containing some under-average songs on it, Vulgar Display of Power also holds some of the best Pantera songs of all time, like "Walk," "Hollow," and "F*****g Hostile." |
Megadeth Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? | 4.0 |
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath | 4.0 |
Children of Bodom Follow the Reaper | 4.0 |
A defining album of the Melodic Death Metal genre. |
Metallica ...And Justice for All | 3.5 |
Metallica St. Anger | 1.5 |
Iron Maiden Powerslave | 4.5 |
Maiden's best. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and "Aces High" are two of Iron Maiden's very best songs, while every other song on the album is solid. |
Sepultura Arise | 4.5 |
Arise is a great contribution to both the Death and Thrash genre. |
Sepultura Chaos A.D. | 4.0 |
Carcass Heartwork | 4.0 |
Among the first melodic death metal releases ever, "Heartwork" is nothing but killer track after killer track. The guitar solos and aggressive drumming are nothing short of perfection. |
Kreator Phantom Antichrist | 4.0 |
Some great melodic tracks on here as well as the more typical Kreator-sounding tracks. "From Flood Into Fire" sounds more power metal-esque than thrash, and the results are simply fantastic. "Death to the World" and the title track are great thrash sounds too. |
AC/DC High Voltage | 3.0 |
AC/DC Highway To Hell | 4.0 |
Rage Against the Machine The Battle of Los Angeles | 4.0 |
Not every song is memorable, but Guerrilla Radio, Calm Like a Bomb, Testify, and Sleep Now In the Fire are some of the all-time greatest Rage songs known to man. The fact that they weren't over-the-top with their political messages on most songs on The Battle of Los Angeles is actually a plus for this album. It shows that Rage doesn't need to have political and social commentary in all of their songs to release solid albums. |
Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine | 4.5 |
Rage Against the Machine is one of the few great political bands out there. Despite the fact that all of the songs on this album has mild to over-the-top political and social commentary on it, Rage manages to deliver top-notch music and the greatest rap metal album known to man. |
Mercyful Fate Don't Break the Oath | 5.0 |
Death Human | 4.5 |
From the beautiful "Cosmic Sea" to the brutal "Lack of Comprehension," Human combines impressive
instrumentation with a surprising amount of intelligence. |
Slayer Seasons in the Abyss | 4.0 |
The guitar solos on this album range from good to unbelievable, especially the track "Dead Skin Mask." Apart rfrom that, Slayer steps up their lyrics and their songwriting while never losing their sense of Thrash |
Rob Zombie Hellbilly Deluxe | 3.0 |
The singles are what make this album so popular. Besides the three singles (Dragula, Living Dead Girl, and Superbeast) this album has little to offer. |
Megadeth Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! | 2.5 |
Despite some great solos, I find the production to be too overwhelmingly bad to enjoy. |
Children of Bodom Halo of Blood | 4.0 |
A return to form for Children of Bodom, and a great one at that. No bad songs on this album; just kick ass riffage. |
Pantera Cowboys from Hell | 4.0 |
Better than Vulgar Display of Power in my opinion. |
Children of Bodom Hate Crew Deathroll | 4.0 |
Havok Unnatural Selection | 3.0 |
Metallica Master of Puppets | 5.0 |
