Streetlight Manifesto Somewhere in the Between | 4.5 |
Motion City Soundtrack Even If It Kills Me | 4.0 |
While not quite a classic album, Even If It Kills Me is certainly a standout in today's endless ocean of utter crap. Motion City Soundtrack takes a slightly poppier turn with this new album, but it stays true to its style of frenzied punk influenced rock. (I don't straight out call it punk, because I call the Ramones, old Green Day, and Blink-182 punk. This does not sound like them.) Even If It Kills Me is an album filled with fast-paced songs with catchy tunes and thoughtful lyrics. Motion City Soundtrack was already a band deserving of more recognition, and this album really makes you wonder why the hell Fall Out Boy is popular and these much more talented guys aren't. |

Barcelona Absolutes | 4.5 |
This is an amazing album. I scored a free copy after one of their shows, and have been listening to it ever since. It is melodic and forceful, and holds a certain appeal for me that I haven't heard for a while. Something about it sounding like the many-way love child of Death Cab for Cutie, The Fray, and a few other assorted bands. If you enjoy indie rock, then I can say with confidence that you will not be disappointed by this album. |
