Bill Evans Explorations4.5
Found out about Evans when I heard the debate about who wrote Davis's "Blue in Green" and had to go check him out. Bill Evans was a genius, the man was brought up in a classical piano environment but could play a mean jazz piano also. To this day, Israel and Nardis are my favorite jazz tracks. Thank you Bill Evans!
Circa Survive On Letting Go3.5
Anthony Green and gang have definitely sharpened their skills and pulled all of their tricks out of the bag for this record. Colin Frangicetto is still making passionate love with his various delays and weaving more complex riffs into the music. Adding more layers to the music, Green's vocal harmonies and lyrics are as moody as ever on this endeavor with religion as his object of interest. What I'm most pleased with is the growth of their sound. most bands go on to create a album after the initial that which plagues a formula already golden. Not Circa though, they found a perfect mix of experimenting while keeping the essential core sound which made them stand out from a sea of carbon copy alternative bands. As good as On Letting Go is however, their sophomore album falls slightly behind their debut release for me. I think the production, while beautifully done, makes the album lose some of the raw emotion presented on Juturna which I find makes or breaks an album. One thing is for certain however, every one of Circa Survive's is patiently waiting to see what they bring to the table on their next release.

I was very disappointed with this release. It sounds exactly the same as Diminishing Between Worlds except slightly worse in my opinion

Awful, Poor, Shoddy,Uninspired are all words that come to mind when you mention this CD. I really doubt Kool Keith had any involvement in the making of this monstrosity and if he did, well let's just say goodnight to one of rap's finest

Beautiful LP by the ATL dynamic duo. Addresses a lot of the problems in the African American culture, which I can personally relate too.
