Before The Dawn Deathstar Rising
Breaking Benjamin Phobia
Dark Tranquillity Fiction
This was one of the first melodic death metal albums I had ever purchased. After hearing "Misery's Crown" on Pandora, I knew DT was something special. I bought it expecting what I had heard in other melodeath bands: okay lyrics paired with okay vocals and lots of flashy guitar. That was NOT it. The overall blend of keys adding a subtle touch of sweetness to the brutality on top was amazing. To this day, Fiction is still my favorite DT album, followed closely by Character.

Arch Enemy Doomsday Machine
Arch Enemy Khaos Legions
Maybe it's because I'm a new Arch Enemy fan (since Doomsday Machine), but I absolutely adore this album. A few tracks are lackluster - The Zoo, City of the Dead - but overall, I really enjoy it.

Aside from how bad your heart hurts by the end of the album, the music is classic RF and everything is well put together. I just wish there weren't so many depressing songs in a row...
