Asia Minor Between Flesh And Divine
Camel finally settled down with his lady fantasy and gave birth to a calf. Camel taught little Asia Minor everything
he knew, including his odd time signatures, baritone singing, and melodic lines that never let go. Though he
never grew a hump as big as his old man did, Asia Minor grew a smoking hot little hump of 34 minutes.

Easily the hardest rocking Christian rock album up to that point (the genre had existed for
no more than two years). Phil Keaggy really shreds here. He would continue to play guitar
exceptionally well and write Beatles inspired songs that were pretty good, but his
psychedelic beginning with Glass Harp is still the best music credited to his name.

This is actually really good. Expect something like early Queensryche, mid 80s Fates Warning, or Watchtower. Though those are good points of reference, this has better songwriting than most and riffs harder too. It sounds like Maiden, but not like an obvious rip-off (hint Awaken the Guardian).

The first song is admittedly very DT, and the second didn't leave much impression besides being airy. The epic is the best part, giving us what we love about Haken. It has the counterpoint vocals, the soaring choruses, the riffs, and yes...the doodly-doodlies. Not bad for demo remakes, but don't expect it to match the The Mountain.

Keep in mind the 3.5 is AFTER giving it a chance to sink in. My initial response was a 2.0. It has some cool parts at least. I give a .5 boost just for the bass in the last track. Though overall, even if I were a fan of noise rock, there are better noisy albums out there that are probably more original and definitely more interesting. The Beatles were doing fuzz and tapeloops in the 60's just sayin'

Very nice Alex. Impressive that you recorded it all yourself. The keyboard parts are fantastic and your singing does remind me of the great Peter Hammil of VDGG. My favorite parts were "Act 1," "Toxicodendron," "Efigy" and "Irons." My critique is you tend to oversing in some parts, as I enjoyed the instrumental breaks. The lyrics went a bit over my head but they did sound ominous so that's a plus.
Teramaze Anhedonia
Think Tool/Testament/Awake era Dream Theater. They never let up, which is good for thrashing
but leaves the songs sounding samey. Teramaze already has great chops, but more variety and
bigger hooks would send them further. Keep an eye on them.

To me it falls somewhere between The Who's Tommy, Frank Zappa, and Krautrock like Amon Duul II. It probably influenced Magma and the Zeuhl scene in France. Overall it has some great ideas and moments, but it's sadly ruined by poor choices like the chanting intro, silly spoken word sections, and the "infinity" song which is utter garbage.

It's okay. While a similar singer Bjork gives her voice a rest and lets the music breathe,
Joanna on the other hand continues to meander through a whole lot of samey passages. Some
parts are really good, but I think she could have improved greatly if she cut the fat off
and let lines sink in.

It's good just nothing groundbreaking. Please prove me wrong, but I sense that people who like this band are like my friend who suggested them: 20-something year-old music majors who inexplicably haven't figured out that SP's sound has been around since the '70s.

When I first heard Skillet would try doing a concept album with non-traditional instruments I thought it'd be a prog rock masterpiece! Little did I know it would be a half baked story with a pointless accordion playing over music that's sounds just like their last album. Couple decent tunes but pretty lame album.
