Devin Townsend Ocean Machine: Biomech
A landmark achievement in the field of progressive metal, Devin Townsend shows the previously unseen other side of his psyche and offers 13 of the most astounding pieces of music ever written. From the hook-laden, anthemic "Life", the ambient glory of "Sister", to the haunting choirs that close out "Voices In The Fan", the final four songs that define Devin's career and everything in between, this is a record that everyone must buy and could only have been written by a true genius.

I'll never be able to explain why i like this album so much, or why it picks me up so high off the ground when I'm down. All I know is that I can't live without it and that it's basically perfect. A few months back, I was feeling really disillusioned with my life, and this album made me give a shit about music again, the one thing that defined my life. Songs like "Time Turned Fragile" and "Attractive Today" contain expertly written melodies and nostalgic qualities that only a band that had been through every up and down of life could deliver. For these reasons I can't give it any less than a 5.

Worth it for the demo version of Of The Room, one of the band's best songs to date. The rest are just tracks lifted from Leitmotif, with a shortened version of the overlong final track. Enjoyable but nothing to shake a stick at.

pretty astounding for a b-sides collection. "Buying New Soul" and the full-length version of "Even Less" stand as two of the best songs penned by Wilson. It's a collection of gems-what else would you expect from a b-sides collection from a time where Wilson was at his peak?
