There's just something about this one that had me listening to it over and over again.4.5 superbAs I Lay Dying An Ocean Between UsThis is, in my opinion, the best straight up metalcore album. It's got a pretty extreme, but accessible sound to it. The guitar work is great, awesome melodies all the while maintaining heaviness. However, it fails to have the same lasting appeal that constellations has in my opinion. Born of Osiris The DiscoveryCarcass HeartworkJust sort of got into this. It's a pretty interesting album I'd say. Kind of the foundation of melodic death metal. At this point the band was still trying to find it's sound I think. In general the songwriting is good, but there's just something lacking from this in comparison to their later efforts. As I Lay Dying Shadows Are SecurityBetter than Frail words collapse, but not much better. I think it mainly has to do with the production, because it just doesn't sound as clear or crisp as an ocean between us or the powerless rise have.
