5.0 classic
Rage Against the Machine Evil Empire
This album is definately a classic. It is the only Rage album I listen to these days. The production deserves a special mention, its my favourite in that regards which is significant as it was recorded in a rehearsal space, not a recording studio.

4.0 excellent
Blakfish Champions
Let me rework blairosh's review so that it represents the album as I see it.r"As far as the recent explosion of British post-hardcore/"math-rock" bands go, this album is one of the best, a very strong album in a hit and miss genre. Those Brummie accents are now issue with me...."rUnfortunately they broke up before they could top this but I'm sure they could have done. &U&I are carrying on the Blakfish legacy, if you like Blakfish and haven't yet heard them you should check them out.
Brontide Sans Souci
Brilliant debut album. Perhaps part of my love of the album is how it took me by surprise; other albums I invested in this year have been disappointing because I expected too much. Since I didn't really listen to Brontide until this album, I had no expectations for it to live up to. If you need evidence of this amazing prog/math/post rock band, check out the Sans Souci (Illumine) film at beatcast.tv

3.0 good
Brandon Boyd The Wild Trapeze
Having heard the new Incubus album, I have concluded that this is far better. How can the band be worse than the sum of their parts? Brandon proves here he has a good ear for music, which was my main doubt prior to hearing this. This album is necessary for Incubus fans, especially since Brandon seems to have been influenced by the other members of Incubus, this feels more like a continuation of Incubus than If Not Now, When?. Brandon must be proud and I hope he has another go at solo.
Tubelord Our First American Friends
It's decent but it doesn't capture the magic of Tubelord's earlier recordings and live performances. I'll put that down to production though.

2.0 poor
Incubus (USA-CA) If Not Now, When?
Incubus have completely removed themselves from the aggressive early days and their musically interesting middle years and landed themselves in middle aged drivel. There is not one song I would choose to listen to on this album. Still, I'll probably put the album on very occasionally just in case my first impression is wrong.
