| The opening track "Snow in San Anselmo" Is an unparalleled masterpiece by this legend of early rock. The album is often compared to "Moondance" as a weaker sibling in style. The songs from this album were selected from a larger work also appearing on other albums by Van Morrison including "Veedon Fleece" (often considered his greatest achievement) . |

| Violent Femmes Why Do Birds Sing? |
I feel kind of obliged to add a "mini" review of this album as no one else has and in all
fairness
it was the first album of there's I'd ever heard and the reason I eventually purchased the
rest of there albums.
IMHO:
After they're debut album the Violent femmes changed up there instrumentals and
subject
mater to a much more complex and mature sound. "Why Do Birds Sing" always felt to me much
like a move back to the album that made them famous (self titled). This album was a much
more upbeat sounding album with lyrics that kind of harkened back to being a young adult,
growing up, dealing with various types of relationships etc. I feel very confident that if
you like there first album you will like Why Do birds Sing more than any of there others.

Florence Welch (vocals), Leo Nathan (MC), Chris Lane (guitar). This is a very smooth and
enjoyable album I like it much more than Florance Welch's solo album lungs. To give credit
where credit is due, I wouldn't have found this without checking her Wikipedia page
after reading the review of Lungs here on Sputnik.
Side Note: original release was 2007 and 2009 was a re-release after the popularity of her
solo project. This album is not easy to find and I just wanted to give all the necessary
info to find it and make sure you have the right album.
Side note 2: The last track "Happy Slap" is a different (earlier) version of "Kiss With A
Fist". |

This is a great debut that really showed off the development of the G. Love sound. If you
are a fan of 90's collage radio you would probably enjoy this album but if you want to skip
strait to the polished stuff I would suggest Philadelphonic. In doing so however you would
miss out on G. Love Classics like "Cold Beverage" and "Baby's Got Sauce".

| Warning: this is a children's album which is a stark contrast to the very pop culture laden adult oriented work of his past. I have no idea why someone would rate it a 1.5 when it is obviously not meant for his typical fans. That being said it is a great kids album. My child loves it and I can stand to listen to it so it has earned a permanent spot in my car. |

When I purchased this CD I was told by the gentleman at the record store that it was one of
the better ones of this collection. He made sure to point out that it was exceptional when
compare to the Cincinnati shows that were recorded directly before hand. It was strongly
suggested I get the NYC albums and this one and I am very happy with those selections and
now pass the recommendations on to you. Enjoy! |

| I found this album on my own when I was a teenager and was completely oblivious to the politics that seem to shape most peoples opinion of this album. It isn't ground breaking, I would't even call it ambitious and it's a lot lighter in feel to all albums previous. This is however a great album that is pretty damned solid from beginning to end. It has two of my favorite PF songs on it so if you've never listened to it I'd definitely recommend giving it a proper spin. |

This album has been a beacon of light in an otherwise shit release after shit release filled
day. I think this is their best entry to date. "Found" contains material ranging from
exactly what you would expect to a few tracks that I feel are more accessible than anything
they had done prior. |

| This was the band Adam Duritz was in prior to The Counting Crows. The album is produced very poorly but the music is good. Kind of a pre-Counting Crows, Counting Crows with a little bit more of a rock edge to the music. |

This was a great beginning to what I thought was going to be a great triphop-esq local band
and it really bummed me out when they broke up. It is frustrating to me that people listen
to and enjoy Eminem when they could have been listening to Brian Brown and Kelly Warner (DJ
KW). If you like good house music perfectly matched to well written/performed reality based
rap then this album created by this talented duo is worth more than a passing listen. Well
if you can find it that is...

| If you like Alt-Country/satirical folk this album is probably for you. From `Talking Seattle Grunge-Rock Blues' which is a classic that smacked grunge in the face during it's heyday to 'My Generation, Part 2' which is a satirical look at pop culture from the POV of an early Gen-Xer this album is just well written and well played. Todd Snider is still touring the country at the time of this posting. |

| Pure 80's sin complete with sax but these two drummers weave an intoxicatingly complex beat that is surprisingly enjoyable. It reminds me a lot of late 70's Bowie or some David Byrne solo stuff. |
