A new direction this time around, the interlude and ambient tracks that have appeared on previous releases have been expanded into a full release with a sole black metal track amongst the mix. The tracks as usual have a great atmosphere and carry a great feeling of darkness and mystery. Highly recommended

Two songs here from embers, wrath and awakening. Wrath is a fairly good doom influenced bm song although not remarkable, not bad either. Awakening on the other hand is an exquisite song whose doom laden sections provide a brilliant atmosphere, with keyboards being used subtly to change the tone and feel of preceedings. As the track evolves further and furher the feel changes with the last few minutes almost reveling in a deep feeling of mournfulness and sorrow, if both songs were up to the standard of awkening this would no doubt be a 4 to 4.5 but its the opening songs sheer lack of attention grabbing moments that lower the score.

Some good songs on here and a few early versions of songs that would crop up on portrait.... and this is love... but nothing more than a glorified demo essentially. It was recorded an 2 days and it sounds like it, i don't mind bad production but after listening to most of their other albums before listening to this it's hard to listen to. Still good but the last thing anyone should buy by bleeding through.
Bleeding Through Bleeding Through
Listened to the album stream on their myspace page and already got this at a 4 after one listen. Buying the album as soon as i get payed on thursday and i cant wait. They've definately upped the extremities that little bit further this time round (probably with david nassie now in the band). Really can't wait to get my hands on this!!!!

A good snapshot of the bands formative year, with glimpses here and there of the band they have gone on to become. This is the sound of a new band finding its sound and although at times it can sound disjointed, there still are some great moments. If your a fan of WITTR i recomend you check this out, but don't go expecting any lost classics.

Meh, em and royce flow well but the beats are sub standard and the lyrics are pretty uninspired for me. Had the potential to be awesome but falls flat, i'll listen to the stuff they did in the late 90's as it destroys everything on here.

Volahn Live Ritual
It's hard to rate this because the songs on live ritual are all taken from the volahn full length which is amazing, but at the same time the recording quality is that bad in parts you can't actually hear anything other than the drums. This sounds like a really bad bootleg that has been put out as an official release. The bits you can hear are great but are massivley out weighed by the overall terrible sound quality and sections were instruments just randomly disapear.

Buzzsaw guitars? Check. Necro production? Check. Complete lack of original ideas? Check. This is essentialy a ambient black metal album (im discounting the demo tacked on the end) that fails in the area that makes the genre what it is. The lack of atmosphere or anything that could illicit a response from the listener is almost unbearable at times as the songs plod along as boringly as possible. Avoid this
