Godspeed You! Black Emperor Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
Best EP ever made. Haunting, explosive, emotional, chilling, and most of all, beautiful.
Hurt Vol. II
Hurt - Volume II is the epitome of what every hard rock record tries to be, while still
throwing in things that make you scratch your head and think, "Wow, I wasn't expecting
that." Pure emotion is conveyed throughout each song, sending you on a roller coaster
journey through the mind of J. Loren. The lyrical content is top notch, and the
musicianship of each band mate is great, while not being too over the top. If the standard
radio rock band would just take a look at what Hurt has done with their Volumes, they would
see how the genre should truly be approached.

Sidenote: I would not fuck with J. Loren.

The overall flow and feel of this album are nothing short of spectacular. There are
definitely a few instances where his voice becomes slightly overbearing and over the top,
but they are way to few and far between for it to warrant any lower of a rating. Warflower
and Sons of Sam - Propecy are absolutely terrific songs. Beauty and the Beast and Focus -
Reborn are also outstanding. I never thought I'd enjoy rapping over acoustic guitar.

This is honestly a must have for any progressive rock fan.
The National Trouble Will Find Me
The tipping point that made me not only appreciate what The National are trying to convey
through their music, but also truly enjoy listening to it in the process.

Underoath Disambiguation
The drums are better. The vocals are better. The guitars are better. Yet when added all rtogether the final product is not quite as intense, thought provoking, or hard hitting as rtheir previous effort, Define the Great Line. That said, this is still an excellent rmetalcore album from one of the best in the genre.

Great demos for some of Linkin Parks better songs. Cool to hear the songs earlier in the
writing process, Minutes to Midnight would have been a hell of a lot better if they wouldn't
have changed these demos as much. The B-side was really quite good as well. It should have
made MtM because in all honesty, it was a great deal better than half the songs on that
record.

As more of a mainstream music follower, I find the vocals to be the key in what makes this band a genre bridging one. Not only is it heavy metal/metalcore/progressive at its finest, but it also is catchy and not overly harsh. It is a little too long and repetitive however.

The one intangible thing about The Mayan Factor's music is the fact that you can always imagine them all sitting around a campfire and just letting loose. Each song here is fitting for the end of the era for these guys, the last smoldering of what was a vibrant fire, before, quite literally, returning to the earth.
