| Ghost return with a fantastic album fitting for the rise of the Antichrist. The band has experimented more, adding choirs and a more liberal use of the keyboard. Standout tracks are Infestissumam/Per Aspera Ad Inferi, Secular Haze, Ghuleh/Zombie Queen, Year Zero, and Monstrance Clock. |

Meshuggah attempted to create an organic album and they have succeeded. Koloss sounds like
it came from the heart of an ancient temple at the depths of a dark jungle. This album
proves that Meshuggah are an ancient alien species whose only purpose is to mindfuck the
human race. |

| Testament return with an album surpassing even the superb The Formation of Damnation. Fast, rthrashy riffs mix with Chuck Billy's excellent mix of harsh and clean vocals to create a rnear-perfect thrash metal album. The return of Gene Hoglan on the drums makes the album even rbetter, his blast beats taking the band to the verge of being death metal. A definite rcontender for the best metal album of 2012. |

The first disc consists of great bonus tracks that are similar to one of each of the four DTP
albums, while the second disc is a bunch of demos from each album. There are also a few
silly tracks including what I perceived as Devy's attempt at hardcore punk and a hip-hop
track done by Devin and Deconstruction drummer Dirk Verbeuren. |
| The Devin Townsend Project By A Thread: Live in London 2011 |
| The Devin Townsend Project Epicloud |
| Epicloud is just simply epic. HevyDevy returns with a masterpiece that could easily go down as the best album of 2012. Combining his signature metal elements with new musical theatrics, Devin Townsend has presented us with yet another mindblowing album. |

| Windir Arntor |
| Wintersun Time I |
| With this release Jari has exchanged most of the speed, ferocity, and heaviness the first ralbum had for epicness and atmosphere. It should be noted that since this is only the first rhalf of 'Time', there may be much more in store for us next year. With that being said, the ralbum is still great, "Sons of Winter and Stars" being the strongest track. While not what rmost fans were expecting and a slight disappointment, we should wait for 'Time II' before we rgive our full opinion of the album we've been waiting for. |

However, The Parallax II is not a bad album; in fact it is their best since their aforementioned magnum opus. 'Astral Body', 'Telos', and 'Silent Flight Parliament' are all fantastic tracks. |

A perfect way to start off metal in 2012. |

| A great modern deathgrind record that proves that Travis Ryan is one of the best vocalists in the genre. A lot of the record is similar, but that is definitely not a bad thing. The experimental closer "Resultados" ends the album on a high note and puts this this album up with Cattle Decapitation's 'Monolith of Inhumanity' as one of the best deathgrind albums of the past few years. |

| A great take on the classic Beethoven piece, the musicianship is top notch, yet the album suffers from terrible production in the heavy parts. It's a shame the band did not attempt to remedy this problem while making the single. Would be a 4-4.5 if the production was better. However, Movement 3 is still fantastic to listen to. |
