Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
While I think the album has some level of importance, I think it is wildly over-rated. The Sex Pistols were important, especially to British punk, but they were quite late to the party. Even worse, they were as much about style as substance. As evidence, note that Glen Matlock played bass on the album, while Sid Vicious was trotted out as the bass player for public consumption. American punk was based upon traditional rock and roll; the Sex Pistols were based upon an uncontrollable need for attention. That gets in the way of the music.
