An absolutely scorching funky album, Miles Davis performed two shows in one day in Japan. This album was recorded in the afternoon while Pangea was the evening. You might not believe it, but both cds sound absolutely different from eachother. Miles Davis' band at the time were filled with possessed, top notch musicians, and to hear Miles and co. bounce grooves and ideas off of eachother is worth the price alone. Originally an import-only album, it has since been released in the States but very quietly. My advice to you is to check this out if you are a fan of his electric stuff. Oh, and wear a helmet! |

The fluent, mellow beats totally makes this album. While Cl has upped his rhyming game a notch, Pete Rock comes through once again with some of the best beats of his career. Theres no denying that Pete Rock is in the top 5 of best producers in the world. A great record, and highly recommended for those smooth, mellow nights. |

Most definitely my 3.5 will change mainly because my copy is very poor in quality. At first, I didnt like it because I forced myself to listen to it because it was the new album. Maybe I just wasnt in the mood. But now, it is quite great, and easily shits on Systematic Chaos and Octavarium. I could see myself jammin this album for a long time. Check it out. Definitely worth a listen. |

Sepultura The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart |
If you want my opinion, this album seriously impressed the hell out of me. I felt like the guy sitting in the chair in front of the speakers getting blown back like those old Maxell commercials. Sepultura...look, I applaud and respect them for soldiering on and continuing to experiment with their music regardless of the metal world all but ignoring them if one or both Cavalera brothers aren't involved, but the truth is the band hasn't released a consistently great record in quite a while. But this record? Maybe it was the 20 year old drummer they recruited or something, but this album sounds like a band reinvigorated and they sound hungry again! Its dark, ultra-metal, and very technically impressive, performance-wise. The new kid in the band is the stand-out as he just does stuff with the drums that sounds like he's got an additional set of limbs. The band hasn't sounded this sinister since "Beneath the Remains" and with the exception of one track towards the end that offers a little peace and quiet, it goes straight for your jugular and its unrelenting everywhere else. That being said, I've seen many mixed reviews on here about it and while obviously you have to form your own opinion on the record, its nice to at least see people talking about Sepultura again considering the general indifference they've faced for well over a decade! Worth a listen indeed and many more listens are required to put it all together. |
