5 classic
Abaddon Incarnate Nadir
This is the best deal I have ever gotten on anything. 24 of the most ungodly awesome songs of all time for 10 bucks. It's "blackened deathgrind." How can anyone resist that?? That's just pure raw awesome.
Arghoslent Hornets of the Pogrom
Amazingly well-orchestrated MDM. This album has them with their best vocalist and by far their greatest song: MANACLED FREIGHTAGE!!!
Becoming the Archetype Terminate Damnation
Epic Christian death metal. Love every inch of it, including Elegy.
Death The Sound of Perseverance
STILL my favorite Death album. The solo in A Story to Tell, and the pure awesomeness of Spirit Crusher and Flesh and the Power It Holds...every metal fan needs this.
Discordance Axis The Inalienable Dreamless
Brilliant, beautiful, raging grindcore. Best ever written, in my opinon. Beyond perfection, and one of my all-time favorite albums.
Green Day American Idiot
I know every lyric to every song. This was my first ever album, and I still love it. Call me biased, but I'm sticking by it.
maudlin of the Well Bath
I've listened to this several times, and after trying to pick the best song, I realized that the entire thing is genius.
My Chemical Romance The Black Parade
Excellent excellent pop-punk emo-whatever. I had no idea it would be this amazing, but I find it hard to hear imperfections in this.
Nasum Grind Finale
152 songs of pure badass grindcore. 152 songs. Seriously.
Opeth Blackwater Park
Past all the hate, Opeth are really damn good. This album blew my mind with how far you can stretch the definition of "metal".
Zao The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here
Genius Jesuscore crammed full of hooks. Every time I feel this doesn't deserve a 5, I fall in love with it again.

4.5 superb
Aletheian ...Hope Prevails
Amon Amarth With Oden On Our Side
Anaal Nathrakh Eschaton
Anaal Nathrakh In the Constellation of the Black Widow
This is so much more brutal than Hell Is Empty... but still with enough of Mick's musicality. "Blood Eagles Carved On the Backs of Innocents" rapes my face. Can't really give it a 5 til I listen to the whole thing, but for now this reaches my expectations.
Anberlin Cities
Arghoslent Incorrigible Bigotry
Arsis We Are The Nightmare
As I Lay Dying An Ocean Between Us
As I Lay Dying has always been amazing. They just do it differently every time. An Ocean Between Us is a great one, thrashing all the way through with a slight slow-down with I Never Wanted. Otherwise the album is a metalcore gem. Love it people! Recommended: Nothing Left, An Ocean Between Us, I Never Wanted, Forsaken, This Is Who We Are
August Burns Red Messengers
Becoming the Archetype The Physics Of Fire
Set me on fire! This album is incredible, pounding in your ears every second with blasting guitars and eardrum shredding vocals. New addition Alex Kenis gives out some melody with his clean vocals. I recommend the entire album. Listen to it all, but be warned, Balance of Eternity drags on after a while.
Between The Buried And Me Colors
Brutal and strange and all lumped together until it's really one gigantic song. Sorry downloaders, gotta take the whole thing on this one. A huge, theatrical mess of brutal thrashing and swaying guitars.
Boston Boston
I love this album, for very sentimental reasons, but still.
Carcass Heartwork
Chthonic Seediq Bale
Cynic Traced In Air
Demon Hunter Storm the Gates of Hell
Demon Hunter is my favorite band ever. It brings back all the brutality of their self-titled album (Storm the Gates of Hell, Sixteen) and throws in a pair of gorgeous ballads (Carry Me Down, Thorns). Follow the Wolves and Storm the Gates of Hell!!
Demon Hunter The Triptych
changing a lot of my old 5's to 4.5's because...well they aren't 5's so much anymore, which means they never really were 5's. This is still one of my fave albums, and we can still be friends right?
Despised Icon The Ills of Modern Man
Dir en grey The Marrow of a Bone
beau99 is right, the rest of u will be eaten by agitated maggots, thrown up, then run over by cancer.
Dir en grey Withering To Death
Dir en grey Uroboros
whoa, wtf happened to Dir en grey? they got heavy on us here. Uroboros just has this...thicker feel to it. and apparently Kyo has discovered guttural growls.
Discordance Axis Jouhou
after endlessly listening to this and TID and reviewing this one....i just can't force myself to give this a 5 when TID is so much better. still great.
Drudkh Blood In Our Wells
Eluveitie Spirit
Woot. This is seriously good Celtic metal. Seriously. Every instrument in it's place and every placement perfect. Heavy guitars, harmonic flutes and violins all melded into a savory record. Great, great stuff. Europe is the land of truly classic music, keep headbanging Switzerland!
Enslaved Vertebrae
I bought it on a whim and it's probably the best post-black metal i have ever freaking heard. Listen to New Dawn and tell me i'm wrong.
Frost Like Ashes Tophet
Frost Like Ashes is one of the best blackened death metal bands out there. The songs are all fast and cryptic and heavy. The screams are so high-pitched I can feel my throat ripping. Recommended: Of Spirit and Power, A Cruel Verse, Nightfall's Cold Kiss
Grand Belial's Key Kosherat
Green Day 21st Century Breakdown
Heaven Shall Burn Iconoclast (Part I:The Final Resistance)
Wow. I looked this up because Wikipedia had it listed under "deathcore", which i love. I listened to it on iTunes and was blown away, almost literally, by Endzeit. This is heavy heavy heavy heavy. I recommend the whole thing, but especially Endzeit, Murderer of All Murderers, and Bombs of My Saviours.
I Am Ghost Lovers' Requiem
I don't think I will ever find another album so full of hooks. Lover's Requiem will have you singing along by the third song. Full of great lyrics and catchy beats and male/female vocals (sweet! :D). I recommend this if you like Skillet. Best Songs: Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps, Killer Likes Candy, Dark Carnival of the Immaculate, Pretty People Never Lie Vampires Never Really Die, We Are Always Searching
In Flames Come Clarity
Classic melodic death metal (great genre!). In Flames continues their streak of greatness. Crunching, snapping guitars and shrieking vocals with snippets of melody and clean vocals. Recommend: Take This Life, Leeches, Dead End, Crawl Through Knives
Mastodon Crack the Skye
Opeth Watershed
just not as good as BWP when I really listen close...still, The Lotus Eater is probably my favorite 'Peth song
Opeth Still Life
Panic! At the Disco A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Really this album should be like a 4.8 but there's no rating for that so... This album is catchy, catchy, catchy. Full of great melodies and hooks. What makes it fall short of a 5 is a few slip-up songs like Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks. Recommended is everything but that and Intermission.
Panopticon Collapse
Peste Noire La Sanie des siecles - Panegyrique de la
Strange yet skillful black metal containing solos...restores my faith in the French.
Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd The Wall
Silverstein Arrivals and Departures
Slipknot Slipknot
Great record, I still enjoy Slipknot. Eyeless, (sic), and Wait and Bleed ftw.
Slipknot Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)
Slipknot mellows out but still is pretty pissed off. More melodic than their previous efforts, Vol. 3 still kicks major a**. Still brutal enough to satisfy. Recommended: Duality, Three Nil, The Blister Exists, Opium of the People, Pulse of the Maggots, Before I Forget, The Nameless, Vermilion Pt. 2
Slipknot Iowa
Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
A classic and original. Every song is completely different than the last. And every song is great! Recommended: Tonight, Tonight; Bullet With Butterfly Wings, X.Y.U.
System of a Down Toxicity
Taake Hordalands Doedskvad
A more traditional version of Satyricon meets the stunning writing of old-school Ulver. Blew my expectations out the window.
The Black Dahlia Murder Nocturnal
This is great stuff. Heavy, dark, solid all the way through. I wish Trevor Strnad would screech less and growl more. Just get a better balance of vocals would make it better. Recommended: Everything Went Black, Nocturnal, Deathmask Divine, Climactic Degradation
The Faceless Planetary Duality
Ok, i beg to differ from EVERYBODY by saying this is way better than Akeldama. It's way technical and the vocals remain solid. Idk why i didn't give it a 5.
The Faceless Akeldama
The Used Shallow Believer EP
With Blood Comes Cleansing Horror
I absolutely love this album. The only-ONLY-thing that downgrades it from a 5 is the horrible breakdowns that are monotonous and cookie-cutter. Recommended: EVERYTHING
Wolves in the Throne Room Black Cascade
Zao The Funeral Of God
Zao Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest

4 excellent
Aborted Strychnine.213
AFI Decemberunderground
I really liked this album. Very solid, almost dance-ish. I think this pwns all over Sing the Sorrow at least. Recommended: Miss Murder, Kill Caustic, Summer Shudder, 37mm
Amon Amarth Twilight of the Thunder God
Anaal Nathrakh Hell Is Empty and All the Devils Are Her
i might have found a new favorite band, and i can't even pronounce it. it's kinda deathly black stuff, for me who prefers death. i have no problem with black, just prefer death, so this is a good midpoint. evil.
August Burns Red Constellations
I was pleasantly surprised by this. Jake Luhrs' vocals are a guilty pleasure. Best metalcore I've heard in a long time. INDONESIAAAAAA!!!
Becoming the Archetype Dichotomy
Behemoth Demigod
Behemoth Evangelion
Blood Of The Black Owl Blood of the Black Owl
Cannibal Corpse Evisceration Plague
hey rugter, Corpsegrinder is the new vocalist. The old one is Chris Barnes and he now fronts Six Feet Under. Research, dumbass.
Cannibal Corpse Kill
Carcass Necroticism:Descanting The Insalubrious
Carnifex Dead In My Arms
I'm pleasantly surprised...i actually really like Carnifex. True, their nothing too brand new, but they thrash around like guys possessed and it's heavyyyyyyyy. But if you want the song Slit Wrist Savior get the EP version. It's better.
Chiodos Bone Palace Ballet
Coheed and Cambria Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV...
Cryptopsy None So Vile
Dark Tranquillity Fiction
Dark Tranquillity Character
Demon Hunter Demon Hunter
Disfiguring the Goddess Disfiguring the Goddess (EP)
a little too Suicide Silence-ish to be perfect, but holy f***ing s*** Big Chocolate is officially my f***ing hero.
Eluveitie Slania
GridLink Amber Gray
Hawthorne Heights If Only You Were Lonely
Why the bad reviews from everyone? I think this album is very atmospheric and catchy, I listened to it constantly after I first bought it. Recommended: Saying Sorry, Dead In the Water, Cross Me Off Your List, Where Do I Stab Myself In the Ears
Heaven Shall Burn Deaf to our prayers
Korn Issues
This is the epitome of Korn. Issues, I think, was their most perfect album. The squeaky, beepy noise effects and the whining and shouting vocals, courtesy of Jonathan Davis, make this album amazing. Recommended: Wake Up, Make Me Bad, Trash.
Light This City Facing The Thousand
I don't care what they look like, women who scream are hott. Women who scream like Laura Nichol are even more hott. And when their band is pwnage too, you have every thrash-head in the world drooling on their iPod.
Living Sacrifice Conceived In Fire
Mastodon Blood Mountain
Meshuggah obZen
I love Meshuggah, I can't even say the name without growling it anymore. This album is another one of their psychedelic rhythm expeditions, and a fine one at that. The instruments are great as always, but I must admit that the vocals are EXTREMELY monotonous and get old after a while.
Morbid Angel Altars of Madness
Mortal Treason Sunrise Over A Sea Of Blood
Mumakil Behold The Failure
Norma Jean The Anti Mother
Ok, i bought the CD and listened to it over and over and it's actually pretty good. Really good. Recommended: Birth of the Anti Mother, Robots 3 Humans 0, Murphy Was An Optimist
Novembers Doom Into Night's Requiem Infernal
Brutal/melodic Amorphis fronted by Johan Hegg. Very nice.
On The Last Day Meaning In The Static
Pig Destroyer Phantom Limb
Silverstein Discovering the Waterfront
Slipknot All Hope is Gone
Soulfly Conquer
Awesome...and the artwork kicks arse hardcore xD. screw seventy characters
Stone Sour Come What(ever) May
System of a Down System of a Down
System of a Down Mezmerize
Amazing, pure SOAD. Great riffage and Serj is astounding. The greatest songs are on the album are B.Y.O.B., Question!, Sad Statue, Revenga, and Old School Hollywood. Go, buy, enjoy!
The Decemberists The Crane Wife
I never thought I would like folk music, but this s*** is good!! Done with a million different instruments, but truly well-crafted and catchy. Recommended: The Crane Wife 3, Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then), The Island
The Famine The Raven and The Reaping
The Killers Hot Fuss
The Shins Wincing the Night Away
The Used Lies for the Liars
Tyr By the Light of the Northern Star
Underoath Lost In The Sound Of Separation
Underoath Define the Great Line
With Blood Comes Cleansing Golgotha
Zao Liberate Te Ex Inferis

3.5 great
Abigail Williams In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns
Atreyu The Curse
Behemoth The Apostasy
Bullet For My Valentine The Poison
Coheed and Cambria Good Apollo...No World For Tomorrow
Converge Petitioning The Empty Sky
Decrepit Birth Diminishing Between Worlds
Demon Hunter Summer Of Darkness
Dimmu Borgir In Sorte Diaboli
This album is definitely one of the best albums to emerge from the minds of the greatest Satanists of our time. Recommended: Serpentine Offering, Sacrilegious Scorn
Gorerotted Only Tools and Corpses
Gorerotted A New Dawn for the Dead
Haste the Day Pressure The Hinges
Killswitch Engage As Daylight Dies
Linkin Park Minutes to Midnight
Lostprophets Liberation Transmission
These guys are in no way metal, but this album is pretty good. Catchy and creative, but slightly cookie-cutter. Recommended: Can't Catch Tomorrow, Everyday Combat, Rooftops
My Chemical Romance Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
Nine Inch Nails Year Zero
Queens Of The Stone Age Era Vulgaris
Serj Tankian Elect the Dead
Static-X Wisconsin Death Trip
Suicide Silence The Cleansing
i'm not sure what this album does for me that separates it from every other f***ing poser, but for some reason i find it great. Maybe its the breakdown in No Pity for a Coward. YOU COWARD!
System of a Down Steal This Album!
The Agony Scene The Darkest Red
The Breathing Process In Waking: Divinity
Thousand Foot Krutch The Flame In All Of Us
Tool 10,000 Days
Vampire Weekend Vampire Weekend
I'm not usually into Indie-rock music, but every so often I find a band who really appeals to me. Vampire Weekend did so. The songs are very catchy and I like the instrumentation, it's very...experimental. I recommend Oxford Comma and A-Punk.
Whitechapel This Is Exile
Hey, it's better than The Somatic Defilement at least. Still not perfect, but it's getting there.
Zao Awake?

3 good
AFI Sing the Sorrow
I gave this only a 3 because I heard Decemberunderground first, which makes this sound worse that it actually is. This is slightly monotonous and overly epic in comparison. Good, but Decemberunderground is better. Recommended: Dancing Through Sunday, Girl's Not Grey, This Celluloid Dream
Atreyu Lead Sails Paper Anchor
Atreyu A Death-Grip On Yesterday
Bullet For My Valentine Scream, Aim, Fire
Coffins Buried Death
Gojira The Way Of All Flesh
Impending Doom Nailed. Dead. Risen
Linkin Park Hybrid Theory
Panic! At the Disco Pretty. Odd.
ShEver Ocean of Illusions
Smashing Pumpkins Zeitgeist
The Decemberists The Hazards Of Love
The Used In Love and Death
why'd I rate this so low? Sound Effects and Overdramatics alone merits it a 3.
Thousand Foot Krutch The Art of Breaking

2.5 average
Aiden Nightmare Anatomy
This album was alright. I love half the songs, the other half sucks. Recommended Tracks: Knife Blood Nightmare, Die Romantic, The Last Sunrise
Arsonists Get All The Girls The Game Of Life
Atreyu Best of Atreyu
In Flames A Sense of Purpose
Korn Untitled
Otep Ascension
The Killers Sam's Town

2 poor
Aiden Conviction
Ugh. Disappointing! I personally thought Nightmare Anatomy was ok...but this is so washed out and bland...There are a few good songs that save this from a lower grade: One Love, Teenage Queen, Son of Lies, Moment. Don't buy, download tracks if you want though.
Linkin Park Meteora
Silverstein A Shipwreck In The Sand

1.5 very poor
Carnifex The Diseased and Poisoned
i'm not even gonna sugarcoat it: this album is absolute CRAP. i used to really like Carnifex with their thrashing neverending brutality, but this is all made up of s***ty breakdowns, that's IT.

1 awful
Avenged Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfold
Codeseven Dancing Echoes / Dead Sounds
Miley Cyrus Breakout
Nile Ithyphallic
death to nile! this is a horrible waste of 15 bucks. not even worth listening to
Static-X Cannibal
William Control Hate Culture
