Army Of The Pharaohs Ritual Of Battle
This was my first exposure to anyone from this super-group. 4 seems overrated. Sure its got over an hour's worth of tracks but I find its easily cut down to 7 or 8 that I want to listen to. Piling on the raps about cutting bodies up and killing like no tomorrow alienates the casual listener; i suppose learning about the possible horror theme to this album seems to explain a bit of this and the slower progression of a lot of the later tracks where raps are spoken sometimes painfully slow.
Notably this record has high production value when one of the 12 members seems to drop the ball its easy to pickup on the backing track to carry you though the rest of the song or just till the next vocalist gets his shot at the beat. Prominent piano or organ keys to a lot of the tracks gives a nice laid back hip hop feel to the album. From brass horns, ringing glockenspiel to occasional sharp electric distorted power chords and the plethora of lyricists theres enough room on here for something to latch onto for most listeners.
