Agalloch The Mantle
-Yo morire y nadie se acordara de mi. De mi.- -Si, Lis, yo me acordare de ti. E ire verte al
cementerio con una flor,y un perro. Y en tu funeral cantare, en voz baja: 'Que bonito es
mentir!'- Fucked me up the first time I listened to it.
Akphaezya Anthology II:Links From the Dead Trinity
Amorphis Silent Waters
This album is filled with so much perfection it's hard to know where to start... The guys from Amoprhis once again showcase their stunning musical skills creating an imersive universe of majestic and powerful metal. Joutsen harsh and clean vocals are top-notch, Etelavuori leads the rythm of the whole band with godlike skills; but Koivusaari and Holopainen are not to be overlooked. Amorphis lives up to its name by not letting you pinpoint the genre they're playing. Call it Death Metal, call it doom, call it progressive if you will. I call it: Classic.

Two songs in and this is already a classic. Wait; what do you mean this is only two songs long?!
Kvelertak Kvelertak
The boys from Norway have honestly shocked me with their debut. Kvelertak's blend from hardcore and black metal is not only unique but it works like a charm. No song feels like a filler, it's extremely accessible but it has meat for the hardcore/BM veterans to sink their teeth in. Album of the year 2010 for me, hands down.

Shpongle Nothing Lasts... But Nothing Is Lost
My, oh my. I'm actually speechless to the level of perfection this album reaches. The instrumental work is just outstandung, and it would be cool if the guys from Shpongle just stoped there; but see, the thing is, they're also incredibly consistent. There isn't a filler song in sight, and every song just flows to the next one. And before you've realized it, an hour of your life has passed by; but it's an hour you won't, by any means, want back. Whithin the genre this might just be the magnum opus of any kind of electronic music. This is the album against all others should be messured. I... I've run out of words and expresions to further explain why this is as good as it is... it just is. Electronic album of the century.

This album is by all definition an abusive relationship. Give it a chance and you'll end up date-raped. But you will come back. Just to get sabbed in the eye or deprived of some vital organ. Bottomline is this album WILL fuck you up, but you will keep coming back until you end up loving it more and more after every listen. A milestone in technichal death metal, and a drunken, wife-beating piece of awesomeness.

Marina The Family Jewels
Beautiful voice, amazing and catchy pop music. One of the best albums of 2010. My favorite pop record of all time. Marina and her diamonds will make you grateful for the existance of music. Oh and her name is Marina Lambrini Diamandis, isn't that a beautiful name? If you're not listening to this, I hate you. If you're listeningn and don't love it, I will hunt you down, torch your house with your family in it and steal your puppy.
Metallica Master of Puppets
Even at the early stages of Kill 'em All, Metallica were pioneers of metal, if not music. They decided to take out the dragon slaying and the cock rock of those years' metal; and the result couldn't have been better. Two albums later they perfected their own version of Thrash Metal; while death might be the main "gimmick" of the album, it's made clear that they also have a lot to say about religion, madness, drug abuse or war. And it's not only the message, but the way it is presented to the listeners ears: with the pure unlimited talent of the band members: from the intro of Battery to the last riff in Damage Inc. This album is Metallicas "IV", "Dark Side of the Moon" or "Number of the Beast": A milestone in Metal; if not music as a whole.

Great mindfuck. Using elements from d'n'b, dubstep, industrial and a sprinkle of "circus breaks" these guys have managed to create something really extraordinary. You also get this dark, psychedelic vibe from it, like a clown dipped in glow-in-the-dark neon paint stabbing another clown. Yeah, it's that much fun.

The album that single-handedly killed my love for music. Don't get me wrong, the album
itself is pretty good, since this man is incapable of doing wrong. But what this album is,
is a major fuck you to everything Kashiwa Daisuke had been so far. Yes the album is calm and
beautiful, but it lacks what made him great: that feeling of expecting the unexpected and
still being surprised, the melodic randomness, that bunch of noise that came together as
something exhilarating... all of that is gone. Don't approach this album as a Kashiwa
Daisuke album, otherwise you're in for the letdown of a lifetime. Also, it seems Kashiwa
loves to recycle since Scorpion of Red eyes is nothing but a big chunk of Stella.

Hey Timmy! Welcome to your first spelling bee! Ok, your first word will be "Overrated". Use it in a sentence? "This album good but kinda boring and very overrated". - O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D - Yes Timmy, very good indeed.

In order to trully appreciate this band, you have to take it for what it is: a parody. These guys don't take themselves seriously and neither should you. Once you get past your prejudices you'll begin to notice that this is a fun album to listen to, nothing great but good nontheless.

I've always liked all of these fine gentelmen's respective bands (at least 62 of Grohl's), and I have to say TCV really feels like a mix of their well-known talents. This both aids and hurts the result: you'll get a kick out of this album if you like these guys' style; but then again it really feels like a mix, so there's nothing surprising, refreshing or that feels new. The result: a predictable yet entretaining album.

No album before has been ruined to me by the lyrics as this one. I had heard of Claudio Sanchez lack of vocal talent, but his voice is just so incredibly annoying that he has singlehandedly screwed what would have been a great album. The rest (guitar, etc) is actually really good, but they should have released an instrumental version. The one song where Claudio's voice is bearable is "Welcome Home", the rest just make me want to put a bullet in my head.

Aside from a couple of catchy songs that will stay in your head either you want it or not (i.e. Renegade), this album is a massive failure. The lyrics are your average nu-metal, highly lacking of any meaning whatsoever and filled with "don't mess with me or I WILL f**k you up!" sentences. Underwhelming guitarwork and a gimmick that would make nuns curse like a sailor make this one of the worst releases. Ever.
AC/DC Black Ice
Feels like AC/DC. Sounds like AC/DC. It even smells like AC/DC... but it seriously lacks any originality whatsoever. It feels re-done to the point it's just what you're used to but is just no longer fun. Something likea a Smallville episode.

Green Day American Idiot
This utter piece of crap has the biggest identity crisis ever. Is it punk? Is it rock? Is it pop? Let me clarify this for you, Green Day: It's neither. The instrumental work is underwhelming. The lyrics... ugh, they just took advantage of a time when it was trendy to bitch about politics. And not the punk way, noooooo. Green Day thought it would be better to use the "Bono-bitching-method". I really can't stress enough how overrated and crappy this is. And if you know American Idiot isn't a great album, but it holds sentimental value so it will always be your classic album even though you rate 21st Century Breakdown a 5 as well... well, there's something really wrong with you.
