| Power Metal at is best. A cd that is accesible to anyone with an open mind. Everything about this cd is spectacular with Tarja Turunen's soaring operatic vocals leading the way with Tuomas Holopainen's stong songwriting ability and overshadowing the guitars with awsome keyboard beats. thats not to say Emppu Vuorien is bad. He lays down alot of creative and heavy riffs on this cd with some sweet solos. Theres alot of interesting drum patterns from Jukka. The bass is noticeable at times with Sami droppin some cool bass lines.Overall I think this is their best cd and their highlights include the stunning Walking in the Air,Gethsemane, and The Riddler. |

| The capacity of human intelligence seems to limit the capabilities to expand upon any possible creative aptitudes. Indeed, if one cannot even notice the facets that the ingenuities around him are comprised of, how can he be expected to fashion a beast of his own? This inveterate sense of constraint is a great blow to the veracity of mankind?s abilities. It restrains us and holds our minds to the ground below, averting any possibility of rising above ourselves to something greater; something not fathomed by the conventional mind. This concept of seeking to go beyond one?s self, known as ?transcendence?, is essentially a gateway to unlocking pieces of ourselves that can lead to some of the most elaborate and significant creations of our world. For many, this quest to transcend and form creations that were once considered unthinkable and overwhelming consumes life. Certainly it is rare to find such people, but when they are found, creative barriers are destroyed. |

IM EATING A BLUEBERRY RASBERRY BLACKBERRY FRUIT SALAD DRESSED UP IN RICH MAHOGANY SYRUP. IM PLAYING THE HARP. IM WRITING A SCRIPT TO THE 8TH HARRY POTTER MOVIE. IM PRANCING AROUND LIKE SOME KIND OF TUBA BLOWING FAGGOT WHEN THE HAUNTING ELVEN FEMALE VOCALS ENTER THE MIX. THIS IS THE SOUNDTRACK OF MAN RVEERTING BACK TO HIS ANCESTRAL ROOTS. | ...And The Earth Swarmed With Them The Fading Voice of the Old Era Speaks to Us, But |
| I'm longboarding through a melancholy forest as I speak. My hoodie up, earbuds in, cold wind blowing, post rock crescendos are twittering through my ears as I stand to appreciate nature in it's finest. Untainted by the near worthless cretins known as humans, the water is still, the squirrels interact with one another, dogs shitting all over the place. This is a moment of tranquility that not even Cthulhu could interrupt. |

Schmier Takes a Sledge Hammer and Kills Random People: The Soundtrack.
This is the album for people who are on the brink of exploding on their employees. Thrash metal at it's finest. Heavy riffs, the enraged vocals from Schmier and pounding rhytmns. I can't spell it but nonetheless this album hits harder than a brick to the face. Anyone into thrash or metal should already have this or may Schmier violate your sister and your mother. |

| Draconian A Rose For The Apocalypse |
| Draconian's most ambitious album to date. They've taken the formula laid out by Theatre of Tragedy/Third and the Mortal and improved it tenfold, never more so than on their latest album A Rose For The Apocalypse. Lisa and Anders are on top form here showing off their incredible dynamic. Lisa shows why she is one of the premier singers in modern metal with her angelic voice leading the charge as Anders growls with CTHULHU LIKE AGGRESSION. Songwriting has improved, taking an Opeth route with the soft to heavy parts. There are plenty of heavy riffs, dirge like in nature, killer guitar melodies, acoustic guitar and sparse violin arrangements popping in from time to time. Synths aren't overbearing yet provide enough of a positive impact to contribute to the grand atmosphere of this record. Draconian have shown why they are at the top of the pack in the gothic metal realm. This album fails to disappoint. GONNA PUT ON A RED VELVET DRESS, RUN OFF INTO THE FOREST AND DANCE WITH MY SHADOW'S REFLECTION DURING THE MOON'S HIGHEST PEAK. |

| An audio trek through a lonesome forest during the winter time. You stop to make camp, pitch a tent starting the fire, pouring the hot cider and cooking lamb stew with your bear fur to keep you warm. But not even all these things can prevent the frostbitten cold from piercing your skin and soul until there's nothing left but a permanently entombed human statue lying by the pine trees, just waiting to be found in this bittersweet moment of tranquility. I haven't heard such a frosty, sorrowful piece of ambient black metal since Forest Silence's Philosophy of Winter,or Coldworld's latest, or any Paysage d'Hiver. The record puts you into a realm of eternal sadness and emotional decay while the icy windswept atmosphere engulfs you into utter blackness. The statue finally breaks into fragments over many years of solitude, just showing you mother nature's indifference and wrath towards man. |

| Strolling through Hot Topic a couple years back, I noticed a cd that stood out from the others. The Birthday Massacre was its name. I was suprised and yet excited to hear how it sounds. Gothic rock, industrial, and electronica all mixed into one with female vocals. After hearing the first song Lover's end i was entranced and bought it immediately. | Walknut Graveforests And Their Shadows |
| Atmospheric black metal from Russia. It's a difficult album to acquire unless you blog or search on ebay but those who man up to the task of acquiring this recives several cool points from me. "Graveforests And Their Shadows" is the bands debut album and capitalizes on the droning style perfected by Drudkh yet keeps the formula original and unique enough to stand out from the ever growing mediocrity from the black metal genre. |

| 1-800-Sauron Parrots |
| Would have rated this higher but the blatant parrot nationalism displayed on this record starts to detract from the brilliant musical aspects. Parrot supremacy views aside, this has some great riffs and some screeching howls to die for. Songwriting is varied and compelling, it has plenty of solos, blastbeats and psychedelic textures but the rampant gang vocals shouting PARROR POWER!!! could be toned down a bit. |

| The best folk metal album of 2008? Quite possibly, this band recently caught my eye with a lot of sponsorship seeming to catch me at every turn in the road. Fortunately all the mag raves and such turn out to be true. Arkona's music can be described as epic Russian folk metal, bolstered by the workhouse and frontwoman, Marsha Scream. She sings, screams, and chants in her native tounge delivering a lethal dose of energy to the highly melodic yet aggressive metal bite. She alos composes all of the music, man this lady is busy. The music sounds like Eluveite, in structure anyways. Solos, crushing guitars, Russian folk instruments, and compelling atmosphere, the only con would be the length and there tends to be a few filler tracks. Brutal, melodic, and always entertaining this is one of my favorite records i've heard in 2008 and I urge others to check it out. Fuckin metal. |

| Caliban is back baby. In 2009, these German metalcore fiends have delivered their most consistent album since 2004's The Opposite From Within. Featuring the typical Caliban formula, the dudes bust out some new moves resulting in a fresh and hip new facelift for scene kids all over. They solo now, they play piano, and they bust out some black metallish behavior in Love Song. Not for sputnik faggots who suck the cocks of Converge or Botch. |

| 2011 never ceases to amaze me. Practically every one of my favorite artists have put out something new this year, Gnaw Their Tongues being no exception. Currently available on bandcamp, Per Flaggellum is a suitable companion piece to L'Arivee de la terne Morte Triomphante. Dark, cinematic, dissonant and deranged, I wouldn't expect anything less. |
| Goatwhore Carving Out The Eyes Of God |
Hell Ride is a nonsensical biker flick starring Larry Bishop as Pistolero, Michael Madsen as The Gent, and Eric Balfour as Commance with Dennish Hopper making a cameo. Basically, they're the ring leaders of a gang called Victors. The whole movie is gratuitous nudity, and shooting people but that's nothing when the 666'ers led by Vinnie Jones aka Billy Wings, an arrow wielding lunatic responsible for murdering Pistolero's ex as well as paying off his whole gang. David Carradine is also a 666'er god rest hsi soul. What does Goatwhore have to do with this overly graphic movie you ask? Everything.
Goatwhore perfected their blend of blackened death/thrash with old Celtic Frost and punk influences on the aptly titled Carving Out The Eyes Of God. Most brutal album name for most brutal band name. Basically, this album plays off like a soundtrack to a satanic biker gang's daily lifestyle. Whacking rival foes, drinking beer, whore houses, etc. Filled with blistering aggression, venemous christian hate, and pure bullet belt badassery, this album is perfect for inflicting some punishment on your foes. HATE!!!!!!! |

Numbing The pain is the emotional track on here and just blew me away countless time after time. Anybody into metalcore should give this a try. |

After the dissapointment that was Sirens, the swell old chaps from ITD dropped a motherfucking time bomb of a metalcore album. Thick chugging grooves, face fucking solos, and a dynamic good cop/bad cop attack, Lividity is one of the better metalcore records released in 2009. Haters can go fuck a diseased parrot. |

| Mastodon returns in 2009 with a zazzy affair. There are two kinds of records, those with and those without zazz. Fortunately, Mastodon recognizes the need for zazz and fufills the zazzieness wiht unabashed zazz. Whereas Blood Mountain lacked zazz, Crack The Skye put the music on the zazz train to zazzville. Zazzy riffs and vocals combine with a zazzy rythmn section bolstered by zazzy songwriting. Overall, Crack The Skye is an incredibly zazzy event, a fantastic star studded evening of zazz if you will. |

"Let The Devil In" is a fantastic piece of Finnish black metal that ranks highly on the scale of 2010's extreme metal output. |

| Soundtrack Crank 2: High Voltage |
Excessive sex, violence, violence and sex, gratuitous language and nudity wrapped around non stop bone breaking and blood spattering violence with random comedic scenes ranging from Chev's childhood, horse track sex, and the immense Godzilla sequence. The only way to describe Crank 2, and the seemingly impossible to kill Chev Chelios. For a movie this manical, twisted, and BallsToTheWall, there is only one man could create a movie soundtrack as pulse pounding and excessively offensive as Crank 2. His name is Mike Patton.
Mike Patton pulls together a 32 track affair transitioning from heavy metal guitars, electronic beats, heavy drumming, and cutting synth lines to deliver the savage beatdown of all beatdowns. Highly explosive, I can't even hold still while i'm writing this.
I'm off to guzzle down massive quantities of protein powder and redbull from my local health mart before attemptuing to run 15 miles, seemingly catching another sneak peek of the ridalin meets redline approach of Crank 2. Do yourself a favor, see thge movie, and acquire the mother f*cking soundtrack. |

| The Ghost Inside Returners |
| As Broseidon, king of the brocean, I think i'm personally entitled to kick off this years Bro's Choice Awards:2010 edition. For best bro-core album of 2010 I nominate The Ghost Inside's Returners as the essential bro-core album to own, regardless if you're a bro or not. Chock full of catchy breakdowns to tool out to, self motivating lyrical content not seen since the film 300, groovy riffs that recall FUCK YEAH PANTERA!!! and some fist pumping melodies to show everyone that you might be a bro but you also have feelings. I also nominate The Ghost Inside for most bro-tastic video for Unspoken and for greatest breakdown of 2010 in Downbeat. I guarantee you will not be having sex with a woman with this album but who gives a fuck, we're bros, we stick together and pound beers, bump fists and lift weights. Fuck yeah..... |

| 2008 has been a significant year for metal yet many of the finer releases tend to get overshadowed by the larger names. Unearthly Trance's "Electrocution" is one particulary fine example. Electrocution displays a rip roaring concoction of furious hardcore punk energy, sludge metal, a thundering old-school doom metal atmosphere, and even black metal at it's most intense moments. In a year where Doom metal has been practically been at the gutter finds Unearthly Trance producing one of the better records around. Fans of dark, dreary doom with heavy distortion, The Melvins, Pentagram, Goatwhore, or ehavy music need to spin this. If you don't like it, it's your loss. |

| Let's promote the savage internet beating of Babyss. And by internet beating I mean a lethal barrage of harrowing insults so as to avoid legal ramifications of the internet. Fuck yourself Babyss, your credibility is shot and im taking you down piece by piece for calling Amon Amarth mediocre. rAlbum slays, it's classic Amon Amarth with a few new tricks up their sleeve. Album is heavier, more dynamic, and less commercial than their predecessor, not too mention super epic. Songwriting is catchy, as per usual, and random synth lines and System of a Down covers cannot detract from the records awesomeness. THOSE SOLOS MAN... Who needs to drown on the pity party, Amon Amarth is here. get the album. Dont be a faggot like Babyss who im going to troll furthermore until his eventual resignation. |

An entertaining cover group for the obvious Black Flag. Everything instrumentally and vocally seems to be intact with the traditional Black Flag with some glaring exceptions. For starters Black Flag's infamous bar code symbol was painted rainbow colors over the straight black finish. Another aspect is the stage names the band goes by. Liberache Morris, Greg Streishand, Cher Dykeowski, and Robo Simmons deliver some of Black Flag's greatest hits in a very gay way. Like one of the standouts from Damaged, Six Pack, was given a rainbow makeover featuring the terrible but hilarious lispy vocals of Liberache. Some of the lyrics have been re-interpreted to fit the new meaning the band holds. If you like Black Flag and/or music with a sense of humor you should give this a spin.

An impressive E.P from these young kids of 17. Transitioning between driving dual male/female vocals, S.S.R apply a Taking Back Sundy basecoat with the guitar melodies and riffing and utilize a glossy Paramore clear finish. This E.P is Florida approved by chief administrator John Hanson(Iluvtar) and regional district manager/ disciplinary instructor Wylie J. McCloskey(BallsToTheWall)

| Sonic Syndicate Only Inhuman |
| Catchy melodic death metal/metalcore from you guessed it, Sweden.Joining the next wave of Swedish metal along Scar Symmetry and Blinded Colony is Sonic Syndicate. After winning the Nuclear Blast battle of the bands and signing on quickly comes out with Only Inhuman. Extremely catchy metal with heavy and melodic riffing, cool drum patterns, and dual vocals. However the bass is practically nonexistent. Very accesible and everyone should give this a spin. Highlights include Denied,Aftermath and the ballad Enclave. Go out and buy it. |

Her vocals are excellent even though they lean a bit towards Vibeke's signature style. Tristania also bring back the violin which is a plus. Choruses are catchy, verses get occasionally heavy but the growls and musical intensity of old have been dropped. Overall solid effort. |

| he capacity of human intelligence seems to limit the capabilities to expand upon any possible creative aptitudes. |

| A lot of Drudkh and Agalloch esque clarinet solos goin on here. Very woodsy oriented approach here. Like Ulver's Bergtatt but not quite as Norwegian. It's atmospheric ok but it's no ambient drone. Melodic but no sissy In Flames melodic faggotry. Talk about conjuring the old pagan gods in an effort to kickstart the rebirth process early. 2012 is Ragnarok. Face it folks. We're gonna be dead in 3 or 4 months. Doesn't matterm the world will be reborn anew as hybrid man animals. Mannimal. The Tick. Whatever your choice. You could come back as an elf tree or spiked dulcimer dildo if you want. No judging here. A hippie |

| Five tracks in and this is boring the living shit out of me. Perhaps an afternoon of yoga has sapped away all my energy, therefore preventing me from enjoying it in it's true, mystical ambiance. |

| Album is pretty amazing even though I have yet to hear it. Gonna rate it a 1 for now but will immediately switch to either 5 or 2 after my first listen. 2 is the equivalent of awesome, 5 is the equivalent of mediocre. |

Norwegian, symphonic black metal in the vein of Emperor. The catch? They're from California, and they play cookie cutter purple metal. Copy pasta what made Emperor so great and streamline it to the point of it being sponsored by hot topic. Seriously? Hot Topic endorsed black metal? Yeah, sad to say. What's so good about this? nothing, they are a bunch of old, ugly fat dudes and girl who play the most generic, uncreative music alive. There are no redeeming aspects and no real reason to check this out if you havent heard Emperor already Record sucks and it's a real shame this band was picked up by Candlelight. For pre-teens who love Twilight but want something a little more brootal, that skinny stoner guy sporting a Cradle Of Filth t-shirt at your mall, and people who enjoy bad music.

Dear Whitechapel, you guys are a bag of dicks and a complete disgrace to both metal and white people. Stop creating your atrocious racket that you call metal. You and me both know that is false. What you play is some gay ass, rainbow fag shit for gays. Take it to heart, you've been a total embarrassment to metal since your inception.
Yours Truly,
A Real Metal Fan. |
