This is one of the few hip hop albums I can think of where every track is good. Most of them are not just good, they are great. Just Blaze and Kanye West did an amazing job producing this album. Every beat is excellent, from the lush "Heart of the City" to the bleak, almost eerie closer "Blueprint." The album also cuts out the massive amounts of guest spots that usually frequent his albums. Simply put an amazingly solid piece of mainstream rap. |

At first I wasnt a fan of the album. I thought it was quite average compared to their stellar debut "Oh, Inverted World." However, after a few more listens this album reveals itself to be just as good as thier debut. The vocals are higher up in the mix, while keeping the atmospheric production that gave a mysterious vibe to thier pop songs. Songs like Mine's Not a High Horse, So Says I, Fighting In a Sack, and Turn A Square are all excellent extremely catchy songs that are the highlights of the album, but the entire first half of the album is top notch. The energy dips towards the end, but this doesnt mean the songs are any weaker. |

The songs on this album are either beautiful and engrossing, or they are dreary and boring. If the album was more consistent it would be far more of a statement. |

This album was a lot more of a grower than the first album for sure. I was pretty dissapointed at first but now I think its a far more cohesive album than the first, but the songs arent quite as good. |

This is the sound of a band who is at the top of the world and is going to do whatever they want. A lot of people think the pomp and excess ruin the album, but I think it gives it character. In reality its a very unique album. Detractors also say that they arent branching out at all, simply playing guitar anthems turned up to 11, but theyve expanded thier range of effects and styles from the walls of sound on D'You Know What I Mean to the slide guitar in Fade In-Out. So this album may not be for anyone, but those who enjoy the energy and sheer confidence that oozes out of this album will love it. |

This is my favorite chill out album. The songs either feel incredibly dense and layered like on Star Sail and the Sun, the Sea, or they feel airy and light, with almost misty atmospherics in the ambient noise, like in Beatiful Mind, Already there, and See You In the Next One. The most accessible songs, Slide Away and Blue, are a mix of both styles. Definitely a good record when you want to relax, not so much when your trying to get pumped up for something. |
