I used to think the Soft Bulletin was their best but now I really can't decide between that and this album. Its quirky, catchy and just really creative. It points to what was to come but is far better than Yoshimi, though that is one of their best loved albums. I think with a lot of people this album is overlooked, and maybe a perfect starting point for getting into the Flaming Lips, especially seeing as there is not a bad song on it and also there is no let up in the pace with any instrumental tracks that can turn some people off. One of the best things about it is the abstract lyrics and also just the creativity and freedom with the song structures. Brilliant album |
