5.0 classic
Arcane Roots Melancholia Hymns
The way Arcane Roots re-invented themselves seems to be polarising but I think this is by far
their best work. First time I heard Curtains as a single blew my mind. And the production is
insane!

Almost perfect if not for a couple of slight fillers (Solemn, Fireflies), though the rest of
the album is worthy of a 5 rating.

Favourite Track: Curtains

Other Highlights: Matter, Indigo, Arp, Everything (All At Once)
Glass Ocean The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else
One of the best albums I've ever heard.

This is how you mix pop, prog & R&B. And the vocals are on another level. Soul Slumber & Burn
comfortably fit within my top 10 of all time.

Favourite Track: Soul Slumber

Other Highlights: A Dream From Which I May Not Wake, Burn, Pride, Almaida
Grammatics Grammatics
Oceansize Everyone Into Position
My 3rd favourite Oceansize album and yet still a 5/5. Absolutely tectonic, and Meredith shows
just how versatile they were.

Closure in Moscow Soft Hell
Hadn't listened to Closure In Moscow for a while as their music never hits the same with me anymore.rHowever, listened to this out of curiosity and I think it's their best work to date. They've taken the best aspects out of both previous albums here.rOnly listened all the way through once, but have come back to Lock & Key multiple times. Best track they've put out to date by far. More of that please!

As Tall As Lions Lafcadio
Biffy Clyro Puzzle
The crossroads.

I look back on Puzzle fondly, it has some great moments on it (Now I'm Everyone, The
Conversation Is..., 9/15ths) that's unfortunately bogged down by some forgettable duds in the
"too safe" category (Saturday Superhouse, A Whole Child Ago, Love Has A Diameter)

Reuben Very Fast Very Dangerous
Perhaps this one stings more due to how highly I rate Racecar, but gone are many of the
things that made that album so special for me.

Gone (for the most part) are the soaring moments found in the likes of No-One Wins The War,
Stuck In My Throat & Moving To Blackwater, and they've instead adopted a more hardcore
approach. Which isn't bad, just doesn't work for me.

Everytime A Teenager Listens To Drum & Bass A Rockstar Dies is still a banger though and
among the best they produced. It has all those moments that made Reuben special.

2.0 poor
Biffy Clyro Opposites
Quantity over quality much?

I know Biffy churn out tracks with tons of b-sides. I don't think a double album was ever
necessary though.
Hayley Williams FLOWERS for VASES / descansos
Karnivool Themata
Steven Wilson The Future Bites
The Pineapple Thief Magnolia
I really think these guys need to focus on quality over quantity. They churn out multiple
albums that all sound the same, bland and uninspired for the most part, with the odd
highlight.

This is one of the weakest out of all the ones I've listened to. Less proggy which was maybe
the only thing going for them. Only song that stands out for me is Alone At Sea.
The Pineapple Thief Versions of the Truth
One of the blandest offerings from a very bland band. Don't really understand the hype around
them in the prog community, they're like a watered down Porcupine Tree (which is ironic with
the addition of Gavin Harrison).

Demons is just E minor song. Even with Gavin Harrison, these guys don't seem to ever want to
explore new territory, which isn't always necessary, though sorely needed here.

Though maybe it's just me...

1.5 very poor
Biffy Clyro Ellipsis
One to wedge the door open with...

On the bright side, Wolves Of Winter is perhaps the biggest steaming pile of garbage they've
done, so the only way is up from there.
Empire State Bastard Rivers Of Heresy

1.0 awful
You Me At Six Take Off Your Colours
Music is uninspired at best, but it's the lyrics that are dreadful

Just some bloke whining about how he's the ultimate catch and that women are whores
