A step up from their last effort, "Crooked
Teeth", in my opinion, and if you liked the
harder sound of Papa Roach, then you should be
looking forward to this album. Half of the
singles didn't do much for me, specifically the
title track and their most recent, "Elevate".
However, "Not The Only One" is a really
different approach with the acoustics and it
sounds nice, and "Renegade Music" has been my
favourite of the singles, I love the
instrumentals on that one. The opener,
ironically titled "The Ending" was my favourite
of the non-singles I got to hear. I had the
chorus stuck in my head the entire way home
from their listening party, and is neck-and-
neck with Renegade Music for my favourite song
on the album. That's followed by the 4 singles.
Next is "Come Around", which is alright. Not
memorable, but not horrible by any means. "Feel
Like Home", "Problems" and "Top of the World"
were all middle of the road for me. The album
picks up in speed with "I Suffer Well", a
short, less than 2 minute track that is on full
speed from the start, definitely a standout.
Album closes on "Better Than Life", another
good song from the album, and a well-done
closer to the record. In my opinion, it's their
best effort since "The Connection", which
critic-wise, isn't super impressive. But some
catchy songs, a couple bangers, and some slower
stuff make this an album that has something for
every Papa Roach fan. |
