| What do you get when you take 1/4th nü-metal pop, 1/4 PEAK Melodeath, 1/4th 80s styled power metal, and 1/4 rkeyboard goblins from space? Possibly the most unique album of the year. "The Fundamental Slimes and Humours" is rrelentlessly heavy at points, yet it's hooks are radio pop level catchy. Lyrically it plays out like a bizarre goblin based rBroadway show. This album is such a frenetic blend of styles that I honestly have trouble categorizing what genre it rshould even be considered. Despite crossing so many stylistic borders, Nekrogoblikon have clearly demonstrated that rthey have mastered the ability to blend pure goofiness with some genuinely amazing songwriting. The talent on display rhere is simply undeniable. rAs a follow up to Welcome to Bonkers, Nekrogoblikon has in my mind, cemented that they have the ability to put out rsome of the most creative, entertaining, genre-bending metal that I've ever heard in my life. rIn Short: I love this album and all of its oddities, this band shouldn?t work but it does. It isn? going to click with everyone, rjust like ?Welcome to Bonkers? before it, but if somehow it manages to worm itself into your brain, it is NEVER coming rout. r |
