There are two ways to look at this album. There is the viewpoint where you look at each song individually. There is also the viewpoint where you look at the album as a whole. Each song individually is great, they're hard hitting, and songs such as Confined and The Darkest Nights offer some variation. But as an album, it is very repetitive, the same scale is used over and over again. At some points when listening, it's hard to differentiate songs from one another. All in all, As I Lay Dying created many good songs by themselves, albeit, on an album, it is very repetitive and it gets a bit stale. |
