Blind Guardian Imaginations from the Other Side
Blind Guardian Nightfall in Middle-Earth
Fleetwood Mac Rumours
Gamma Ray Land of the Free
Quite possibly power metal's finest hour (alongside Nightfall In Middle-Earth & Keepers II) - Hansen's vocals here are gleaming jewel in power metal's armour. Rebellion In Dreamland, Land Of The Free & Abyss Of The Void are quite easily some of the best songs ever produced by the genre, with RiD arguably the best ever written.

Blind Guardian A Night at the Opera
One gloomy winter afternoon my ears were introduced to the wonders of power metal by the stunning
vocals of Hansi Kursch and beating drums of Thomen Stauch. The tragedy of the Trojan War had never
seemed more alive and encapsulating as when I first listened to 'And Then There Was Silence'. In
fourteen minutes of spell-binding storytelling I had been converted to a genre I had never heard
of before and found a new favourite band.

Five years later the memory of that fateful day is somewhat jaded. Blind Guardian's seventh outing
certainly does not sound as it once did before, having explored their entire repertoire. Other
albums capture the majesty which this German outfit can conjure and it is surely not a coincidence
that very few of the songs from A Night At The Opera are performed in their live concerts. It
seems to me now a wonder that this rather sedate yet well-crafted album led to my enduring love of
the genre.

For those new to power metal or Blind Guardian this is definitely not the album to start with.

An album which really pales compared to The Metal Opera or Ghostlights. Dying For An Angel and the title track are all that save this album from being average dross.
