5.0 classic
The Mars Volta Frances the Mute
This album truly transcends the musical realm, redefining the term "masterpiece". Exquisite.
The Mars Volta De-Loused in the Comatorium
Beaten only by its successor, "De-Loused in the Comatorium" is a timeless paradigm of nu-prog, underpinned by a haunting yet fascinating concept. An absolute marvel.

4.5 superb
Coheed and Cambria In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Whilst not without its weak points and certainly not their best lyrical effort to-date, Coheed and Cambria deliver an album with one of the strongest openers and closers across their entire discography, with plenty of catchy hooks in-between.
Coheed and Cambria From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
Widely considered to be the progressive pinnacle of Coheed and Cambria's discography, the album features lyrics laced with resentment and heavier instrumentals, conveying the darker overall theme whilst still retaining the "Coheed charm".
Rishloo Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth
A massive step-up from their earlier discography; they've cultivated a sound which displays their remarkable musicianship and emanates an aura that is utterly captivating.
The Mars Volta Octahedron
The Mars Volta Amputechture

4.0 excellent
Coheed and Cambria No World for Tomorrow
Despite the record's superior consistency, the shift in musical direction towards a more generic rock sound has left many of the songs formulaic in structure and lacking the former three's charm; however, the album remains a satisfactory conclusion to The Amory Wars.
Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Ascension
The first half of a thrilling tale that preludes the events of The Amory Wars, in which parts I and III of the album's suite stand tall above the rest.
Coheed and Cambria The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Sputnik Monroe Wake The Sleeping Giant
Showcasing a unique blend of post-hardcore, indie and math rock, this album is a highly under-appreciated, hidden gem.
The Mars Volta The Bedlam in Goliath

3.5 great
Coheed and Cambria The Color Before The Sun
Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Descension
Although the first half of this album heavily outweighs the second, this is easily the band's best lyrical execution.
The Mars Volta Scab Dates

3.0 good
Coheed and Cambria Year of the Black Rainbow
The noisy and heavier production of this album serves as a hindrance to a band that is characterised by clean vocal execution, causing the album to be a step taken in a wrong, yet bold direction.
