Damn. Rachel Platten ain't got nothin' on this stuff. Even counting The Next Day, this is some of the best stuff I've heard from Ziggy in quite a bit, probably decades. rEdit: Yeah, this album still kicks all kinds of ass, and it's got a completely different meaning to it coming after Bowie's death. Blackstar ain't gonna be an easy listen for everyone, but youre doing yourself a massive disservice if you don't at least try it a couple times.

Priest, as a whole, are more energetic musically than they've been in years on this thing, and considering most of the stuff they dropped since Painkiller (excluding Angel of Retribution, which was still pretty damn good) was generally uninspired & underwhelming at best, that ain't something I'm gonna say lightly.

The 1975 I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It
Yeah, it's probably way too long for its own damn good, but who cares when the bulk of it's this much fun to listen

The strongest stuff I've heard from the Underworld camp since at least Beaucomp Sea. A great breath of fresh air, especially considering their last couple albums sounded pretty tired. But I'll tell you what, I reckon it was worth waiting 6 goddamn years for this thing.

Not too sure I get some of the hate for this one, besides expectations at least. For me, it hasn't quite got the highest highs of 21, but I'd say it's on par, if not a little bit better than 19. I am gonna say swapping out Rick Rubin for Max Martin & Shellback was kind of a downgrade, though.

They're getting better in my books...but they still got a ways to go before they get anywhere close to Green Day or Sum 41 status, which means these guys have gotta find some way to get above their influences. But as it stands, this was pretty decent. It's not exactly The Wonder Years, but still, not every band's gotta be on their level.
Abbath Outstrider
AlunaGeorge I Remember
Animal Collective Painting With
This is probably gonna be one of the more disappointing albums of the year for me, considering how awesome Animal Collective were at their peak with stuff like Merriweather Post Pavilion & Sung Tongs. FloriDada & Golden Gal still kick ass, though, so I guess there's that.

I had my eye on these guys since the EP dropped. Their debut's kinda generic in some spots, but still pretty decent, just not as good as the EP, which I enjoyed the shit out of. Still hoping they're gonna amp up their sound Tesseract style next time round, but as it stands, decent enough start, even though Hacktivist have dropped better stuff before.

I like these guys quite a bit, and I like they're trying some different stuff with their sound and all that, but the
album's still got some of the weakest stuff I've heard from the Bloc yet. Still decent for the most part, but I'm
probably gonna be coming back to this album the least out of their catalog, and that ain't cool.

M83 Junk
I'm getting the feeling Dead Cities is always gonna be the high point of M83 for me. That being said, this is kind of a step back from Hurry Up, We're Dreaming & probably more on par with Saturdays=Youth for me at its best. It's still alright, but it's one of the group's weaker moments in a while & not the best sign coming from an album 5 years after the last. Hardcore M83 fans might get their fix just fine, but everyone else should just spin the new Underworld instead.

3 Doors Down Us and the Night
I'm gonna say it's better than Time of My Life, but it's only by a little step or two. And that ain't really a
compliment, considering that last album was one of the most generic post grunge stuff I heard outside of a late
period Theory of a Deadman record, for me at least.
Pretty similar case here, still not really all that good.

Well, I liked it more than WZRD & Indicud, at least. Not his best, and I didn't like as much as his first two albums, ror even Satellite Flight, but for what it's worth, it's not bad. I know he can do better, though. rI'm being generous here 'cause it's an experiment, kinda like WZRD was. I get why some people here aren't the rbiggest fans of him, it's cool. For what it's worth, I've heard worse this year. rEdit: Every listen to this thing, it's been getting worse, actually. It's not really all that good.

This one kinda hurts, mostly because I really liked their last album a fair bit. Not exactly the case here. Brett Tharp said it best; these guys have pretty much all but gone towards the mainstream crowds. That wouldn't have really been a bad thing, except that Bring Me The Horizon did it a hell of a lot better a few months ago. Tonight Alive might call themselves limitless, but this album's got a pretty short limit with me.
