It takes a while to get used to this album, it's just so dark and fucked up it's hard to get into. But it's amazing once you get used to it. This has become one of my favorite albums of all time

Yet another great enslaved album. Enslaved really show their creativity on this album with
some fantastic song writing and some really interesting experimental parts. Queen of night
is an obvious stand out track and is one of the best songs they have ever written.
Enslaved Ruun
Enslaved are masters of contrast and on this album they continue to do what they do best. Beautiful harmonies contrast perfectly with dissonant passages. Enslaved have done better, but this is still a solid entry into an almost perfect discography
Enslaved Monumension
This was my least favorite enslaved album for a while, it's a real grower though. This is still far from their best but it's a fantastic album in it's own right.
Enslaved Hordanes Land
Enslaved Axioma Ethica Odini
Enslaved RIITIIR

Once again Enslaved have out done themselves. It's amazing how they can use so many diverse sounds and yet they always have a signature sound to their music.

Blut Aus Nord What Once Was... Liber I
What really makes a lot of Blut Aus Nord's music so good is the off kilter and weird riffs they put together. Once again they make not only an interesting album, but a captivatingly weird one.
Botch We Are the Romans
Burzum Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
A fantastic album with a pointless and terrible last track
Burzum Filosofem
brilliant album but I would enjoy it a lot more if there wasn't that twenty five minute instrumental on here, it's boring and goes on forever.

Am I the only person that doesn't like lord worm's vocals? His shrieks are really cool, but his growl is really monotone and doesn't have much power behind it. If it weren't for him I'd like this a lot more, at least he's better then their next vocalist....

Is this even the same band? It's amazing how much they have evolved, this is nothing like their later material but it's still great. This is some of the rawest black metal I've ever heard and it's amazing.
Edit: This album is honestly almost too raw, on first listens it was okay but everything is really compressed thanks to the one dimensional recording. It's a shame that the production is so bad because honestly the music is amazing.

I don't care for a lot of the music on here, but a lot of the choir music is amazing. Who would have thought that a choir could be haunting and dissonant. This easily one of the weirder albums I've ever listened to and diffidently worth a listen. To bad his other work is horrible.

This might be the most inconsistent album I have ever heard. It doesn't even stick to one style or sound. While the EP hints at future greatness the brevity of most the tracks really hold back their potential.
Unhappy Our Grand Despair
Some cool riffs, melodies, and atmosphere but some of the riffs aren't that great and some good riffs are played for to long. First track is killer and the rest of the album never really hits the heights the first track hits

Weh Origins
This feels like a series of songs that don't have a common theme or style, because it is. Some of the songs are great, others don't work. In particular the first few songs that have harsh elements don't make sense in this style of folk. All in all the album is hit or miss, but the hits hit hard

Will Gardner and the Deadly Ghost Ache
I would have actually liked this album a lot more if they didn't try to mix metal into it. The space rock (or whatever it's called) is actually really cool. But the metal riffs are boring and don't add anything. I assume they were trying to add some harsh elements to contrast with the beauty of the rest of the album but the chugging riffs are rather tame so it doesn't work

I would give this a 1.5 if I could. The ambient sections have nothing going on musically and (to me at least) they don't really provide any atmosphere. the sections that actually have some real music in them are fine but the treble is so high (especially on the violins. a lot of the ambient sections have that problem too, seriously, who thought that a high pitched mosquito noise was a good thing to put in this? Like how the fuck is that enjoyable to listen to?) that it hurts my ears in some places. The instruments have a really dark tone that could have been very atmospheric but the pace is so slow I'm half asleep by the time there is any real melodies.I can see why someone would like this (if they cut the treble out of their eq) there are some cool moments to be found here but it isn't worth sitting through all the boring and uninteresting stuff to get to them.
