I don't know that I like the fact that of all possible bands The 1975 are the last relevant rock act in 2018. But what the hell. It's the world we live in. I even kinda softened on "Give Yourself A Try" which is not good but much more bearable without the video.
Say what you will about the band or this album but they are no longer content with writing the same catchy indie-rock anthem (Girls) over and over again, which they easily could have done for the next 15 years. This LP is suprisingly diverse, ambitious (How To Draw / Petrichor) and timely and for the most part I think it works surprisingingly well. The second half of the LP is loosing me a little bit though, to many kinda sleepy ballads.
But Love It If We Made It is legit amazing.
Edit: Naaaah I take it back 2nd half is actually great. First 3 songs are kinda eeeeh, but album is pretty stellar after that. |

It's good, but it has a serious dip in quality in the middle (songs 5-7) and that's a pretty big
problem when your album is only about 35 minutes and consists of 9 songs. A good release
nonetheless that has a lot of cool moments like the hypnotic guitar on the opening track or the
fuzzy synth's on standout song "Ad astra". I'd say it's a step up compared to their last album. |
