Dark Funeral Angelus Exuro pro Eternus
This is a rentless assault to the ears that
can be as painful as it's fun. It's super
fast, heavy and grim, but the songs are
actually catchy and have a cool concept behind
them (yeah, mostly about satan).

The song structures are quite simple, but if
you pay attention and listen beyond the noise,
there are some beautiful (albeit melancholic)
melodies that in fact sound great on piano.
And they have a love ballad about a love long
gone. Devil May Cry, indeed.

Kreator Coma of Souls
To me this is their best album. It has one the
best combination of brutality, melody and
technical skills that i have heard in a
classic thrash album.

In the lyrical department they seem to
continue maturing, with People of the Lie
standing out as an anti fascist anthem.

Sonata Arctica Silence
Some complain that power metal lacks depth,
however this music proves that the genre can
be sophisticaded, and still emotionally
powerful and catchy.

Probably Sonata's most progressive album of
the classic era, this will keep you in a
constant state of bliss, which is what this
kind of metal is about, rather than being
brutal.

Megadeth Dystopia
This is my second favourite "modern" Megadeth
album, Endgame being the first. I think this
is a return to form, while is not as intense
as Endgame, it stills has a thrash edge.

Kiko is one of the best metal guitar players
ever, so he is quite welcome. However, his
usual style is quite different (melodic power
metal) to Megadeth, yet he fits in nicely and
adds new layers to the band's sound.

Also, even if Megadeth is a classic band, this
sounds modern and fresh. In the end, this
album should satisfy old and young metalheads,

Sigh In Somniphobia
In Somniphobia is musical excellence. It is
impressive how Sigh manages to create a
balance between the rawness and fury of black
metal with the refinement and sophistication
of genres as divergent as progressive rock and
jazz. It's not that black metal in general
lacks depth, but fans of the genre will agree
that even the most virtuosic groups sound like
being straight from hell.

Sigh however... are something unique. They
even sound nice, harmonious, despite almost
always keeping the typical black metal vocals.
But in a mysterious way, step

Labyrinth Welcome to the Absurd Circus
For some reason this album did not reach me at
the first listen. It may be because of its
strange cover, or because the first song
sounded "odd" to me. Listening more carefully,
I think it's one of their best albums, even
superior to the already excellent Architecture
of a God.

That's because now the songs flow better, and
it maintains a balance between the progressive
style and the catchy melodies that
characterize power metal.

All the songs are memorable and have their own
charm, and the musical level of the band is
very hig

Rage Resurrection Day
One of my favourite releases of 2021. It
doesn't bring anything new, but it's great on
it's own. Just pure metal full of awesome
riffs and melodic hooks.

Rage is one of the most consistent metal bands
in quality and this album is no exception.
Just a few songs that don't do much to me
prevents this album to reach higher levers.
