The Smiths The Queen Is Dead
This is one my all time favorite records. It is a masterclass in production, lyricism and guitar work - with an iconic album cover to go with it - it is The Smith's masterpiece and will forever remain in my life for as long as I reluctantly breathe.

Mariah Carey Rainbow
Mariah is a pop music icon by now but this album... wasn't it. It is full of forgettable,
bland songs which don't fit together at all. It is like trying to build a jigsaw with
lego pieces. Easily Mariah's worst album of the 90s and I never come back to anything
here except for Heartbreaker and even then that is rare.

Mariah Carey Butterfly
Arguably the best of Mariah's lengthy album discography. I revisit it every now and then. Even it is just for The Roof.

Mariah Carey Daydream
The main reason for 3.5/5 is for Fantasy alone. That is pure pop perfection and the best
thing Mariah has ever done amidst her 35 year career. Daydream is not as strong as
Butterfly in terms of songwriting, but far better in vocal and production - even if
slightly overproduced.

Mariah Carey Merry Christmas
A very boring Christmas album full of predictable boring traditional songs and a couple of okish covers of Christmas classics. The original songs aside from the star of the show, AIWFCIY are all dreadful. A good Christmas album? .....definitely not. A good Funeral album?... possibly.

Mariah Carey Music Box
Despite being Mariah's best selling album, Music Box is overall a step back from a promising sophomore record. Once again, Mariah's voice spellbinds and soars effortlessly - but the majority of songs here are forgettable boring ballads that I can barely remember.

Mariah Carey Emotions
With her debut album, Mariah introduced herself as the next big diva popstar. A strong debut single but a weak album to backup left us feeling as though even though her voice was out of this world, we have already been here and heard it all already. Mariah further cements this with her sophomore album - but just with slightly better songs.
